Is that resting heart rate for real?

yeah.. when I was younger it wasn't unusual to be in the upper 30's when I woke up in the morning.

I'm an aerobic machine.

thanks - I guess if you stimulate the vagus nerve enough the parasympathetic nervous system will naturally lower the heart rate to what is potentially a dangerous level of bradycardia. Mine has always been a function of cardiac efficiency versus a pathological diagnosis.

between that and working on lactate threshold, I've had many moments of glory as it relates to aerobic performance.

(not really.. but I have always been healthy from a cardiovascular standpoint).

basically the more aerobic training you do, the more the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated. It's, in part, responsible for our body's involuntary responses.. (there's probably a better way to say it) - so the more efficient your body becomes (think transporting oxygen to working muscles, etc), the less demand is placed on the cardiac system, the respiratory system, etc.. so it functions at a lower level.

That is a good thing.

And the lactate threshold comment is simply your ability to transport lactic acid - a byproduct of metabolism - out of the blood, thereby increasing it's efficiency, as well.
