Democrat controlled states are also not guilty of horribly biased gerrymandering activities to preserve their power. On the other hand 6 Republican controlled states have gerrymandered their way to a net advantage of 11 gerrymandered seats in the house. Now that's not a massive insurmountable advantage in the House of Reps on a federal level, however it does drastically alter the State Government and NC is the clearest example of the effect this has on State legislation.

I can find the source for the above information if needed but it's easily found on google as the study eventually led to a supreme court ruling that requires NC to redo their districts.

Really? Harry Reid was the kind of snake oil legislation and Obama passed Obamacare under extremely, extremely dirty circumstances.

If you cant admit both sides use cheap tactics, then you just refuse to accept reality.

I'm a progressive so obviously I lean left but I absolutely despise both political parties because they're both corrupt to the core, they just serve different masters.

Pretty good read, though I take exception to the headline. There's a ton of extremist on the far left side that do the exact same thing. This isn't just a conservative issue.

Did you see the semi viral Kos post from Christmas about the Holiday party? What gives me a chuckle every time is that these are the people that preach tolerance all day long - and when the real world hits them they're the most intolerant of all.

I hope so. I'm afraid in that situation, the damage is already done. It'd be helpful if media outlets could figure out how to not paint a false narrative or at least not make it so obvious. Did the editors not know that there's a good possibility the truth will come out? They lose all credibility and it's a pattern that's been developed, just the ones that have been caught. It's going to take a long time with a perfect record for any of the media outlets that ran that story to gain any semblance of trust from many people. And that's why we're at the point where we're discussing this because of the danger it presents.

I take more comfort in thinking about the millions of stories main stream media got right. Our founding fathers valued a free and independent press protected by the first amendment. When the press gets it wrong we demand they get it right. We can't let the opponents of a free press win. Living in a world of misinformation is a dystopian nightmare.

The Washington Post has retracted its story about Russian hackers penetrating the nation’s electricity grid with a virus found in a Burlington, Vt., electric company laptop.

“Authorities say there is no indication of that so far [that Russians had penetrated the US electric grid],” according to an editor’s note attached to a corrected version of the story on the paper’s Web site.
