I look fairly young for my age, but most people probably assume she is my granddaughter.  I have had a few people ask if she is my grandchild, but most people avoid the direct question. 

The reality is I am old enough to be her grandfather so it does not offend me.  My wife on the other hand (44 when she was born) does not take it so well.

It is strange when I meet other parents of kids she goes to school with.  Some of them - I am older than their parents.

Choosing kids names is tough.

Wyff and I didn't want to know the sex of any of our four ahead of time...was more interesting that way.  Had to plan names for both sexes before each was born.  Two girls, then two boys.  

First daughter's (the UM one) name was picked by Kitten.  First generation Italian-American, she modified the name of an uncle back in Italy into something feminine by picking different vowels.  Short, but elegant.  I thought it was great back then.  Fits her perfectly now.

Went through some name lists.  The boys ended up with common biblical names though neither Kitten or I were/are religious mainstream.  

Our 2nd daughter (feature singer on Royal Caribbean) is who I got to name.  Kitten fucked with that too.  Changed my intended spelling to make it more Italian than Scandinavian. Still, the name suits her.

Both of our great grandfathers had the same name so we're going with that if it's a boy. If it's a girl I'll let her name it because my soul will be dead.

Usually, but not always. The man and woman who gave life to Alex Wagner were both kids at one time. Same for the parents of Margot Robbie and Stana Katic. Sometimes they work out okay.

When I came back to this place it looked like a morgue. You guys had months to drive up traffic and liven the place up. I started a thread today over on the old board that has 1000s of views and four pages of posts. The conversation is robust and it makes me proud to be a Spartan. We will get there on this place.

I was confused looking at this thread title, because I don't really remember making it. It's definitely me, as everyone who knew me, knew it wasn't the plan.
There were multiple reasons, but I knew I was in a loving and supportive situation to make this a good thing. I love my girls, and that's my life now. I'm not afraid to express the hardships, because that's real life. Of course I love my girls, I knew that wouldn't ever be an issue.

My daughter is 11. So far she is a good kid. I try not to steer her in too many directions and support her as much as I can. She had her airpods stolen in the first couple of weeks at school, which sucked. Even worse that they were never turned in, but I think she learned her lesson. She had a friend convince her to join track and so far she's sticking with it, which my wife and I are so surprised because in the past if she even had 1 bead of sweat, she would quit.

Anyway, I'm dreading the next few years and a bit nervous. Dreading might be a bit dramatic, but you get the gist.

one thing we've figured out is that parenting never stops, it just sort of changes and evolves as the kid changes and evolves.

Our daughter is 24, 2X graduate of Michigan State, recently moved to Ferndale and is in her first post-grad school 'big kid' job. We talked with her last week for 75 minutes, as she just wanted to talk through some financial questions, issues with living in a new town, fill us in on her new job, success/challenges, etc.

We listened and offered the best support we could. Shes fine, better than most and certainly in a better place than my wife and I were at her age, but still needs Mom and Dad sometimes, which is perfectly okay.
