Noridic, thanks, I also had no idea. I'm the only Android on a 5 person group text. When "liked and image" and so on kept showing up, I was wondering what the hell was going on. It's quit annoying on my end, but now that I know, it makes sense. Stupid Apple phones (yes, I'm bored and trying to start a fight).

If figured trans Atlantic cable was maybe a 1920s thing, not an 1860s thing. Whoah.

I learned that when I 'm on the interwebs and have a browser open to tswill but I'm on another open window that I know who is checking into tswill. I didn't know we had that feature. "Nordic connected to the swill" etc.

TIL-
Your strongest sperm and eggs are available from ages 16-25. If you have kids past 25 you’re rolling the dice that your kids going to be dysgenic.
There’s a reason why the oldest tends to be the most successful...and it’s because of the chances of that kid being the result of quality sperm and eggs produced at the right age.

It’s really astounding that you just learned that. I had typing class in junior high and that was how you tested all your letter keys to make sure they were good. You’re older than me I think so maybe you were just too fancy for typing class I don’t know.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party.
We had to type that. Don’t judge me because my typing teacher sucked. She smoked in class and pushed two bills.

Mine played golden oldies records on one of those suitcase record players that all schools had during class. She also had a big nasty wart on the end of her nose. She was such a caricature.

I took typing at my future junior high while still in elementary, after school. The teacher was a very cute spinner, which explains why I still suck at typing.

Know what? I think the class was called “typing”. No fucking disguising it as “intro to business” or some bs like that. I think it was just called “typing”. Fucking 1970’s. Just cut to the chase. No blended classes. Fast medium and slow tracks. Everybody knew what track you were in. But the worst part was the bell bottoms.

Meant to enroll in Typing but mistakenly enrolled in Hyping. Took me years to stop using an exclamation mark at the end of every sentence.

Re: tOfficial: "Today I Learned" (TIL) thread
The origin of the English word "delicatessen" traces back through German, French...and ultimately to Italian.
Definition
a shop that sells food such as cooked meat, cheese, and food from other countries
Origin and usage
The word delicatessen was first used in the US in the late 19th century to refer to prepared foods for sale. It was then extended to refer to the shop where such foods could be bought. Delicatessen came into English from the German ‘Delikatessen’, the plural of ‘Delikatesse’ meaning ‘a delicacy, fine food’. German borrowed the word from the French ‘délicatesse’ which was itself borrowed from the Italian ‘delicatezza’. The informal short form deli started to be used in print in the mid 20th century, although it had probably been in use in speech for some time.
