I would like to revisit my post about the 5 or 6 things the Tigers need to go right to compete but stupid forumotion deleted all of the pages > the last 5. Seems like only one of the things I recall mentioning is happening (Fulmer). I think this team is cooked to be honest. Even fully healthy I can't see all of those things starting to click and having the team rip off a healthy > .500 streak.

I agree. The window has shut about 5 times on this team at this point.

I do buy into the 'brutal schedule' taking its toll on this team. The tough series vs Houston, the late start vs. Chi, followed up by a double header was no question a draining week.

That being said, watching this team try to manufacture a run is painful. They get a RISP even with zero to one outs and you just see the lineup hack away at garbage, popup or ground out.

I think the whole club needs a complete flushout and that included chucking Brad and the entire staff. I think he's a decent manager that was dealt a shitty hand but oh well that's the nature of the beast.

Tigers put brutal May in rear-view; June looks brighter

Detroit — Manager Brad Ausmus didn’t like the sound of it.

He was asked if, despite going 4-7 on the sleep-starved three-city trip, he felt the Tigers still somehow survived. After all, they did take two of three from the Royals. The bats, though iced in the middle game by Eric Skoglund, scored 16 runs in the first and last games of the series.

And they woke up Thursday, in their own beds for a change, just three games behind the leaders in the American League Central.

So, survived it seems about right. But to Ausmus, it sounded too much like an excuse for their club’s poor showing in Houston and Chicago.

“It was a tough road trip, but we’ve got to win games,” he said. “It’s as simple as that. We’re not the only team to go through a tough road trip.”

In May, the Tigers played 20 road games in six cities — spanning three time zones — in 19 days. They’ve come through three, three-city road trips in seven weeks. Their 31 road games ties Seattle for the most in baseball.
