Looking at the Tigers schedule I think it's reasonable to think the Tigers are going to do well the next week or so assuming they haven't traded away the entire team.

After this stretch with Minn and Kc they have the Astros and Yankees where we will see a sobering return to reality.

Gave some thought to 'fire sales' and 'blowing teams up' and going to play devils advocate but does this strategy really pay off?

Look at Philly, they blew it up a couple of seasons ago and their team is in the shitter. All of the 'hot prospects' they trader for are turning out to be duds. Now they can't even trade away the shit they have and they are going to have to rebuild through the draft and free agency.

Who are the success stories for selling off and rebuilding?

The Yankees have lost 8 of their last 10 and are fading....

I suspect the Tigers are going to go on a little streak and fool the front office into thinking they have a chance to compete and call off the badly needed fire sale.

I just read two articles on the Houston rebuild and both of them credit tanking (finishing at the bottom of the league) and drafting well. After that was free agency.

I believe this is how KC got so good as well, years of being a dog shit team and then loading up on draft picks.

I watched a couple of the Yankee games vs Boston this weekend. They played great ball in Fenway and they are playing with a sense of urgency. I wouldn't count them out yet.

But maybe that's a wild hair and Al Avila doesn't do what ownership wants.

Mr. I bought the Tigers in 1992 for $85M cash. The team are currently valued at $1.15B-$1.2B and for the first time in over a decade attendance is down.

Biggest problem of selling is structuring the sale (or partial sale) to minimize the possible $1B+ profit. That's a lot of pizzas.
