Shaun White run was in-fuck-in-sane. I was a pretty good snowboarder back a decade ago or so. Not really a freestyle/half pipe dude but just a free rider. That does not qualify me to judge his tricks on a technical level but I can judge them on a visual level. Wow. Just wow.

I don't even understand how they practice that shit. I had some pretty big balls in my college days, and I would take wild jumps not knowing how to land. I used to joke with my buddies about "seeing the white light" when I missed them (which was often). In this day and age I understand a little bit better what that might have been. It's mind boggling.

I remember one time at Blue Mountain during a Spartan Ski Club trip I hit a jump at full speed, found myself up in the air with no idea how to land and recounting it, telling friends I thought I was going to land in Lake Ontario so I started flapping my wings.

I landed on my face, saw the white light, cut my face all up, and drank a lot of Molson XXX on the bus ride back to EL.

In awe of Shaun White.

I think I like the Russian figure skating the best. With their long tradition of ballet I feel like their moves are more visually stunning.
