I mean, there are plenty of problems that could be "solved" by nuking the whole area into a radioactive parking lot, but that's not much of a plan.

He says it like A) nobody before him realized it, and B) we should be thankful he won't go that route. There is no doubt he has asked in meetings why we can't just nuke Afghanistan and be done with it. Of course this appeal to his base, who think Transformers is a documentary and Hollywood scripts and Toby Keith songs make for good foreign policy.
