We are in uncharted territory.

Have colleges ever shutdown before? I know they are going online, but you know what I mean. I tried to search for if that has ever happened before, but the search is filled with current news. I'm guessing 9/11.

Sports? Again 9/11 and I assume during the WW for periods of time. But I don't recall the specifics. Anything else?

Travel bans? 9/11 we shut down for a week(?). I assume there were bans during the WWs as well. That is the level we are talking here.

I get angst over England. But Canada and Britain are our two biggest ally. Travel bans are extreme and can't be done lightly.

My brother said they’re at level 3 on a 0-6 scale for shutdown. It takes two weeks or more to shutdown some of their processes. If they go to level 6 they can’t leave the property for 6-8 weeks. But they’ll pay them 10k a week.

I don't know about any sort of oddsmakers but I have been on record a few times saying that I'm not convinced that the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator will be the nominee in November.

In a shock to no one with a brain, google ain’t got no national Coronavirus testing site anytime soon

That doctor lady had a real cool poster to show everyone though. It looked like it was gonna work really good.
I’d bet a dollar to a donut they could ramp up the affordable care website to do it in about 2 hours. Millions probably already have accounts. But ya know. Obama.

To whatever extent things were closed during 9/11 and the world wars, it was very short and temporary. Maybe not travel restrictions during the world wars, but there weren't many civilians traveling international in those days. Schools didn't close for any significant time. Sports stopped for what, maybe a week after 9/11? But during the wars, MLB never missed a World Series.

Maybe the Spanish Flu is similar, but was case by case. Was just reading this article the other day about how Philadelphia held a parade and 2600 people died within 3 days, while St Louis went on lockdown and fared much better.
https://www.history.com/news/spanish-flu-pandemic-response-cities

So yeah, we are way out in uncharted waters. This is the most historic event that any of us here have ever lived through due to the global nature of it (at least I dont think anyone here was around during WWII). Hopefully it will always be.

Pretty easy really.

A) I told you it was always a hoax
B) Look at how we didn’t lose as many lives as China or Italy due to my master plan

You are conservative? I've also preached you can find tons of conservative view points in the NYT, Washington Post and WSJ. These aren't the liberal blue rags that the attack machine makes them out to be.

Fox News wasn't like that when it started, was it? I don't remember it being so over the top to one side. Hannity used to share the show with some liberal guy, and that at least brought some balance. I seem to remember other shows doing the same kind of thing with one person from both sides.

Now, it's just shameless. I really like Chris Wallace that does Fox News Sunday on local Fox affiliates. He really challenges both sides with tough questions, calling out their contradictions, etc. But when was the last time the Fox News Channel had anything like that (except for maybe a replay of Fox News Sunday)?

Chris Wallace is incredible, I get why you like him. I just don't know if I can wade through the muck to get to him. A few years ago legit incredible journalists in their news room resigned with a conscience because of the garbage they were spewing. I can't speak to their evening news it might be decent but the rest of it is just la la land stuff. I think it's dangerous to because over time their audience will believe anything and that's not a good thing.

Last week some stooge in the Russian Duma proposed a change in their whatever to allow Putin to serve through 2032 or something like that. Putin heartily agreed, stating that continuity was good for Russia. I can see Mitch McConnell filling the role of Russian stooge here. I mean, continuing to.

You don’t think he’s doing the slow grind into capitulation on the severity of this for nothing do you? It’s important for Dems to have their process complete and a nominee in place by the time of their convention. Republicans will probably cancel theirs. Play the “we didn’t have an equal amount of airtime” card. Blah blah He’ll fake symptoms blah blah. Hell stand up there with corporate America and explain they’re doing it for YOU. SEE YOU NEXT NOVEMBER.

Whitmer Slams Federal Response On COVID-19; Trump Swipes Back
Governor Gretchen Whitmer today sharply criticized the federal government's handling of the new coronavirus, in particular President Donald Trump, though not by name, for comments he made to governors in a Monday conference call about what the federal government will do to try to get more respirators to treat patients with COVID-19.
According to a recording of the call obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Trump said, "Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves." He added: "We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself."
Ms. Whitmer slammed that approach.
"This has to be all hands on deck, cutting red tape, moving as quickly as we possibly can and being aggressive and smart about our reaction, and so to hear the leader of the federal government tell us to work around the federal government because it's too slow, it's kind of mind-boggling to be honest," she said in an interview on MSNBC. "We are pulling out all the stops here in Michigan. We've got businesses here in Michigan that are redoubling their efforts to make sure that we're able to access all of the kinds of equipment we need. But we need the federal government to work. We need respirators and ventilators and personal protection equipment. We need more test kits and the resources to process those test kits in a quick, expedited manner."
Ms. Whitmer said it's not possible for the state to get the equipment it needs without federal support.
"No. No!" she said when asked if the state could get what it needs on its own. "We need federal support. Like I said, we are pulling out all the stops and reaching out to our partners in the private sector, and we're going to do everything we can to supplement. But it's not to the exclusion of federal support. We need the federal government to ramp up and get this done."
Mr. Trump wasted little time turning to Twitter to retaliate.
"Failing Michigan Governor must work harder and be much more proactive. We are pushing her to get the job done," he tweeted. "I stand with Michigan!"
Mr. Trump said nothing about what he thought Ms. Whitmer should be doing that she isn't.
Governors from both parties have moved aggressively in the past week to shut down most of public life in a bid to halt the virus's spread.

President dipshit spends 90% of his speech on the economy. LOL he is so worried the one thing he hasn't completely ruined is going to crumble. Fuck the dead people.

Take note that anytime they talk about testing it’s always with the “those who need it” caveat. Doctors have to determine who gets tested by the supply of tests available. You ain’t walking into the doctor and getting a test if you want it.
