I finally got my cherry popped today. Today was the first time I've been on lake st. Clair.
I got some beads too.
We found them in the water, but I figured it counted. My girls were whining the whole time. So that was no fun. But nothing is that fun with little kids. Everyone tells me, some day. I'm waiting.

Are you referring to your children or your bewbs?

I had to ask the hubby, because I don't know names to places. But yes, we went to the moot.
We didn't do dinner anywhere, as the little ones were cranky enough as it was.
So this summer, I have had 2 cherry's popped: first time on lake st clair, and I tried fishing for the first time.
Now, I'd be happy to join in on these activities with my swill buddies. But no one has invited me

Be careful at the moot, and all of St. Clair. Lake is murky, bottom undulates and difficult to judge water depth anywhere. Best not to dive off a boat and jump feet first.Dendrobates wrote:DWags wrote:

I did know that at least. But I've never been able to dive, nor do I have interest in a lake.
Back when I worked in MRI, many summer weekends, and every 4th/memorial/labor day, I saw many come in with broken necks from diving in that lake. It was really sad, as I saw some young "kids" become paralyzed.

St, Clair can whip up fast in bad weather. Couple brothers that worked at our place both drown years back. One fell of the boat and the other went in to help.

Lake St. Clair has some of the cleanest water/sandy bottom there is. But yes, it is shallow/don't dive.
Edit: Heavy winds, yacht chop, silt coming down St. Clair River and dirty the water.

Muscamoot and all the bays areas are very shallow. Average depth of Moot is probably <3', max 6' in the dead center/high water year.
Water should not be fucked with/taken lightly. Especially the Great Lakes (which I consider St. Clair part of the chain). It can get nasty quick and if you are inexperienced, you could be in a world of hurt.

Two Weeks! That sounds great.

Wishing the best of luck. We haven't been so lucky with the littlest bit of water in our phones. But many today are made to be briefly waterproof. I don't want to test it out though.

Prime day feels like an invitation to spend money you weren't planning on spending... Was I suppose to not buy stuff the last couple weeks in preparation for prime day?
& Once I was fishing with my Grandpa on Lake St Clair (10/11 mile maybe?), nothing was really biting on the main lake so we parked in the "ford cove" so gramps could perv on the bikinis... Left an hour or so later and had to "batten the hatches" (? Not nautical, put the canvas thing on)... waves outta no where where rolling over the front of the boat. Freaked me out. Gramps was fine though.

Do not ever touch the water at the moot. Probably more urine than water.
Don’t eat any fish from LSC. Strictly catch and release.

You mofo’s can’t get anything right about St. Clair. Enormous amounts of water flow in from the St. Clair River (from Lake Huron) and exits the Detroit River (to Lake Erie). Muscamoot is flanked by the South and Middle Channels, which dump into it. The entire lake turnovers roughly every 7 days (or something like that, I can’t remember the exact figure). Muscamoot is flushed out even quicker since the SCR has numerous cuts that dump into it. Other areas longer depending on the proximity to the SCR, current flow and wind direction. So Dendro’s pee is probably halfway to Sandusky by now (or at least near Belle Isle).
As far as eating fish, go for it. There is a shitload of walleye and perch fisherman that catch and eat from Lake St. Clair, St. Clair River, Detroit River, etc. Like any lake, you should limit your consumption, but they are perfectly safe in reasonable quantities. St. Clair/Erie have been cleaned up immensely over the years and are two of the best fisheries on the planet (not hyperbole). This is ain’t the 70s Dwags.

Re: The Swill Buddy System
Amen brotha... my grandparents lived on Anchor Bay and St Clair Shores in my youth. 2 weeks a year we would get a perch run in the cut in their backyard where the average size was 10"... some mountable... all on grandma's bamboo poles. Swimming by the boats parked near Harsen's Island (? maybe.... it's been a loooong time) on a summer weekend might be a little funky, but that shits (sometimes literal) gone by the next day.Nordic wrote:DWags wrote:

Absolutely correct a lot of water flows through LSC. Mostly follows the shipping channel. Not that deep. Do they still dredge it?Nordic wrote:DWags wrote:

Rarely. I’ve fished out there for 25+ years and rarely seen a dredger. Sometimes in one of the cuts (Doty Hwy, Sni, boat launches, etc.). Only major shipping channel dredging I recall is at the mouth of the Cutoff by the Firecracker (large shipping channel marker). I think they were building a Firecracker 2, but scrapped it. If you can find it on your sonar, fish on.

It was also strange seeing kids playing soccer at the end of the runway.
