Leadership matters.
Thank goodness for state/local leaders.
We are living in a bizarre time.
I am astounded at POTUS who goes from “I’ve got total authority” to States and governors, it’s all yours in a matter of days.
The only reason I can think of is his Trump2020 advisors looked at polling data and decided if President Trump bails, handing everything to the individual states he’s got 6 months and two weeks to shift blame to governors and the power to cut the legs out from under governors he doesn’t like.
PS
Great news n the home front Duffy.

I love how stocks jump every time there’s talk of opening up. Wall Street loves the idea of sacrificing thousands of people to get their dividend checks flowing again.

It’ll go back down when the realization hits that we are still a bit out from opening much.

Was talking to a friend. Small business owner. Told me he's opening back up on May 1 no matter what. Had no idea how to respond, so that was just the end of our conversation. Won't say what his business is, but essential it is not. Not even close. Hope he wasn't serious, but he sure sounded like it. Logistics (& his wife) should stop him from foolishly doing that anyway. Customer base isn't really there right now and more importantly neither is his workforce which are mostly students.

Update:
Kinda the same as it’s been. Good news and bad news. But stable. One thing will get better, while something else gets worse. Right now, he’s got a staph Infection. They’re giving him the toughest antibiotic right now. And they’re testing for MRSA. Those results won’t be in until Sunday. Still a waiting game.

There's blue tape everywhere. Outside the store to keep you 6ft apart waiting to get in. At registers to keep you 6 ft apart waiting to cash out. But it's the one way arrows that are so difficult to see, understand, and obey?
I do believe I have figured it out and Nigel did too. When you're grocery shopping pushing your oversized cart around and maybe just getting a few things you're not looking at the floor for guidance, you're looking up at the sign telling you what's in that particular aisle, or looking way down the aisle to see if the crap you want is actually in that aisle. Nobody looks at the floor of the aisle to find their stuff. Fix the damn signs!!!

I can't speak for every publix, but at least at the one I go to, they arent at all hard to see. They arent blue, they're bright green for the arrow at one end, and a red X at the other end of the aisle. They also have signs taped to the aisle signs that say what is in each aisle, and they play an announcement about it over the speakers every however many minutes.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
Ya, but the announcement over the speaker is only in English I saw an old man get annoyed, as he stood on a red X, waiting to walk the wrong way, because a lady at the end of the aisle was blocking him unintentionally. Hard to describe, but I just rolled my eyes and laughed.MiamiSpartan wrote:Jake from State Farm wrote:

Good point, I guess it is only in English, so that's an excuse for some.
If I was blocking that guy trying to go the wrong way, I would probably stay there blocking him intentionally.

Currently on the FB trash, that I have to read, but just skim and move on, there is a high school friend who is screaming at another friend who said "Maybe Trump shouldn't ask for civil protest during times of a Pandemic". He is attacking her for "dividing the country". "It's people like you who are dividing us, you're a horrible person". And then of course, somebody chimes in, "em, Trump has tweeted three times to protest, how is that not dividing the country?" And then he goes off on that person. It's my 40th coming up so I'm following old classmates. There is even a postal worker who is arguing for Trump not to save his job because by god, voting by mail is fraudulent. It's actually quite entertaining.

Those announcements are like the ones at the airports about keeping track of your stuff. Everyone hears them but nobody listens to them. It's just background noise.

The one I shop at, it isn't going on all the time. They interrupt the music and have an announcement. It isn't quite white noise in the background. You can hear it and it isn't too subtle.Jake from State Farm wrote:MiamiSpartan wrote:

Blue arrows. I was like, what oh...OK...that’s a good idea. Seems like eye level would have worked better for me (and maybe the other people that didn’t notice them). Maybe it’s just me. If looking down is better, I’ll
suggest it to the road commission. Those signs are eyesores anyway.
