The recovery number is disturbing. Glad to learn she's somewhat healthy again. Brian Allen tested positive. Doctors say he'll regain his sense of taste and smell in 6-8 months.

Don't know how they know something like that from something that hasn't been around for 6-8 months?

You know, I'm not sure if they've retested her. I will ask.
Update:
Still mostly stable. Again some ups and downs. Inflammation markers are down. But they've had to sedate him more and increase his oxygen. no change in chest xrays. When he starts coughing, his vitals drop like crazy. Which is why they're keeping/upping sedation. And his fever spiked back up to 104 for a bit.
It's so damn frustrating. We keep thinking, isnt there anything they can do? All it is, is a waiting game hoping his body fights it off. It also worries us with the length of his ventilation. How much permanent damage it will cause? Will there be any cognitive issues ? Of course that's assuming he even survives.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
I can't imagine the waiting. Any type of thing where there are several days of just waiting, nothing can be done, etc., is going to be frustrating, but add in the fact that no one can be there with him, and I can't imagine how that must add to it. It seems like it must add a separate level of waiting because you guys have to wait for updates from the hospital, rather than being there as things happen.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
I was listening to a report from Brooklyn and a dr. was talking about how many young patients in critical condition there are. He was the head of the response at that hospital and he was just dumbfounded by how what he was seeing wasn’t what he had expected based on the information that was given at the beginning. He also had a meeting with his staff and they were talking about how the covid cocktails that have been lauded as a panacea by certain people... were not showing any appreciable effects. Every day that your brother fights it is a good day Dendro. And brings him one step closer to kicking it. I would be a wreck. Stay healthy. Mentally and physically.

Several articles have posted this. Saying 90% of US deaths could have been avoided if we started social distancing on March 2.

It is crazy the number of young patients critically ill. Especially someone like my brother with 0 health issues.
Another side note: my cousin (well, husbands cousin) is a NP and she has it now. She’s so pissed because she said she did everything to prevent it. It’s also sucks because she’s in OB and labor and delivery. Also has 4 young kids at home.

Looks like we will pass 34k deaths today. There were 9 deaths on 3/1 and 4,873 on 4/1. Maybe we should have taken this more seriously much sooner than we did. Now we're going to have to put in on the line so Jordyn can get a new gaming system from Best Buy and Chad can grab some new polos at TJ Maxx.

Maybe the kids should go back to school. Only 2-3% will die.

Pretty sure that's all people not 2-3% of kids
Also opening school would be dumb IMO because there's a few weeks left when quarantine *potentially* ends so what's the point even

All people impacted by the opening of schools. His comment was framed specifically within the context of schools, so while maybe not just kids, it is also not just the general population either.

I think some of the people I've seen commenting on facebook are really way too dumb to take notice of this, let alone let it affect the way they think about this virus. To them it's nothing but a hoax and the people dying of covid19 had one foot in the grave already and would have died whether or not they got it.

Yeah and apparently that's on the low side of options from that lancet paper
However, there are no data on the relative contribution of school closures to transmission control. Data from the SARS outbreak in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore suggest that school closures did not contribute to the control of the epidemic. Modelling studies of SARS produced conflicting results. Recent modelling studies of COVID-19 predict that school closures alone would prevent only 2–4% of deaths, much less than other social distancing interventions
At some point people will have to venture out and it has to start somewhere. Killing 2-3% of kids is not what Dr Oz was talking about though. Again I'm of the opinion that it's dumb to bring back a tiny amount of school at this point, but I don't have kids/rely on school for care and or food so that's easy for me to say

Before when I read about it, they weren’t giving it to vented pts. This said vented pts came off shortly after treatment . Pretty amazing if it’s legit. I sent the link to my mom and future SIL

My understanding is that there are clinical trials going on in MI but they are at UM Hospital and I think maybe one in GR.

Lol. Yes he is. Looking back to a couple of months ago when we thought he was near the end I think he may of had the virus. He didn't want to eat and kept saying everything tastes like saw dust. Clearly he is still near the end but how ironic would it be if he beat covid 19 first.

We are going to bring outpatient PT and I'm going tomorrow to do my part with his home care. My local brother and sister have been doing the bulk and it's my over due turn. We now have a real schedule because nobody is really worried about giving him the virus anymore.
