Re: So what happened to Trevor?
I think the game thread page counts were an accurate representation of the demise of the board.
I think the voting, up or down, is a better indication. I think there used to be threads that occasionally would get to +3 or 400. Even +200 would happen, now the highest is 175 or so, but most sit around 10. That or people finally found out that voting on the internet is stupid.

blanch doesn't post there any more, so the down votes are probably way down.

I'd say, since the "threat" appears to have diminished, he's gone back to whatever he was doing prior to 5/15.

Unfortunately, your incessant repetitive posting is not the eyeball draw we anticipated here and the "Exclusive Home of Bobby Sak" ad campaign was a resounding flop. [sad trombone]
Throw in the gHost & Blanch 10+ year old routines & it's a pretty grim outlook.

So giving it away for free for the summer, and then making it a major pain in the ass to cancel so that your card doesn't get charged must be working!InTenSity wrote:

I think the September numbers are going to suck. The qb controversey and inept offense was great for message boards.

Seriously. If you could somehow count chat comments as posts, then our stats would be astronomically higher. Let's try to exploit that.

I think football success is inversely proportional to message board traffic in general.

Re: So what happened to Trevor?
So the success of the board is measured in topic and post creation, but almost right out of the gate people were bashed for creating topics and posting too much.
That seems a little unsustainable. But take that for what it is worth as I've never started a message board before.

Re: So what happened to Trevor?
I think most people lurk, and if they do post, they might post in 1 out of about 10-20 topics. There aren't a lot of posters who post in every topic or even 50% of the topics. That being said, if you see the same posters in topic after topic spouting off the same rhetoric, it will scare off those that don't post that often. You need the posters who hop in here and there in order to keep going.LoneWolfSparty wrote:So the success of the board is measured in topic and post creation, but almost right out of the gate people were bashed for creating topics and posting too much.

Before I found tRCMB, I played EQ, and I visited MB's for the server that I played on, they were epic back then. Threads in which guilds fought online and offline were great and could go on for 50+ pages. Once the servers started merging less people visited the MB's, but I still went to one, even long after I quit playing. It was mostly a political board and there were about 20 people that would post, with about 5 that posted in everything. It was typical Left V Right, it survived for 2 or 3 years after the server died, but once everyone was on the same side (either the right or the left posters all left) the board died. There was nothing to debate and people got bored because they agreed with whatever was being posted.
For the most part, we all love MSU and MSU football and the direction that MSU football is moving in, so any thread about the team, this early in the season is not going to have many replies, because most of us will probably agree with the opinion of the OP. Bball season could be different, but at this time who wants to worry about BBall season when there is still a lot of Fball to be played. All that being said, then something new needs to come out that is deemed 'fun and exciting', but that is difficult to do because it is hard to be original on the internet. If I want MSPaint Monday I go to reddit or shaggybevo. If I want gifs, maybe I go to tigerdroppings. Most of us are also older, so a lot of times, after 5 or 6, this place kinda dies.
I don't have any answers, but I was able to waste the last 10 minutes before going to lunch, I look forward to your replies and I'm waiting for someone to chime in that I take it too seriously.

I think the goal here is quantity AND quality. Dozens of the same old lame gHost/Blanch threads are not going to help anybody.

I would rather live in a small community governed collectively by its members than a large community with a centralized authority that applies the rules arbitrarily. Philosophically, tSwill is the right choice.

and you can't genetically engineer an entity such as tSwill - that was the problem with the other, lesser board - people weren't allowed to speak freely. I prefer to exist in a community like tSwill where it grows and evolves organically than through the prism of the insecure and unfortunate souls exerting their almighty message board powers against those who they disagree with.
Long live tSwill - with all of its glorious, tragic and calamitous souls, this place epitomizes rule by the people, for the people.
