I find pecan best for poultry. Cherry is the only better smelling wood and can be used for pretty much anything. Apple, hickory, and maple are okay but meh.

I’ve got a couple bags of Traeger’s Signature Blend. Thinking I’ll get some Applewood for the ribs since I’ve seen that recommended a bunch for ribs.

I think you'll be pretty stoked, looks like you are getting the upgrade of my traeger pro 575. All and all its the best for great control in smoking. I like to add a bit more smoke so I have one of these
Pellet Smoker Tube
I still use my weber for burgers, steaks and brats since I think it gets a better char to it but the Traeger is extremely multifunctional. Big highlight for me was using it to cook pizza on....*Chefs kiss*
We’re doing pizzas on Saturday and ribs on Sunday. What flavor wood do you prefer?
depends really on what I am cooking but I've found the signature is a good all-around go to

The fact that I lead a simple life allows me to be interested in grills and grilling. It’s enjoyable for me and doesn’t really complicate things. I don’t think my neighbor sees me grilling or smoking and says “man, that guy is so complicated, I don’t know how he does it” unless I’m drinking whiskey and not PBR.

I'm just trying to think of what that is for me. Probably nap-related.

I usually focus more on timing.. arranging the days activities around the nap.

Wife you say? May I suggest some sleeping pills or ear plugs for nap time. They hate it when you rest.

as long as I'm not being annoying, my wife is pretty okay with whatever I'm doing. With your years at tSwill and witnessing my commentary, I'm sure you can identify with her plight.

27 years of wedded bliss and she hasn't kicked me to the curb yet.
I suspect if I spent a bunch of time debating what kind of wood to use when I cook a cheeseburger, she might be tempted. Then again, she tolerates my vinyl collection.. my tunes.. rock shows.. trail running, cycling.. my winter sport shenanigans.. my disgust of heat, people and sand.
like I said, we all have our things.. enjoy your cherry wood-fired corn roasted burgers cooked in a Kevlar-reinforced titanium tank, my dude.
(do you wear pastels and khakis while grilling? Seems like a good subquestion)

Flannel shirt, jeans, and leather work boots. I’m not a tourist up north, I live here!

That’s pretty much my daily outfit, too. Also, IB4 Turtleneck tries to get us to wear vegan leather boots made from pineapple and prunes.

Good call Floyd! I’ll probably get the rib rack, the jalapeño popper rack, and the chicken leg rack. All they really do is free up space on the grill by holding them vertically instead of laying them flat.
