No idea what Purdue was doing. They were switching and ending up with Edey on him at times.

He wasn't on the opposing team's radar as the go-to guy until recently. That will change.

The returning players will be the key to next season. Our last big class of superstar freshmen (2016-17) only propelled the team to a fifth-place finish in the Big Ten, a nine-seed and a second-round loss to KU. But this team should return a lot more talent and leadership than that team did.

The returners logging more than ten minutes per game in 2016-17: Nairn, Harris, Goins, McQuaid and Ellis. Of those, only Harris scored more than seven points per game (10.7). Bridges had to lead the offense and play 32 minutes a game.

The possible returners next season: Hoggard, Walker, Hall, Akins, Brooks, Holloman, Sissoko, Kohler, and Cooper. That's a fantastic situation for Izzo. The freshman will have very skilled mentors - and instead of getting solid playing time by default, they'll have to earn it. With Kohler developing into a real weapon, it could be a special team.

With that athleticism, Izzo should be able to take care of teaching him defense and rebounding. I'm very excited to see this kid in college, but does anyone have a scouting report on if he can hit a jumper?

Wasn't he at IMG type place and expected to go in the 2024 class but then enrolled "early"? Basically he was lowly ranked because no one had grades him for the class he was in. In his HS video I saw a raw version of Lorbek. But now I see he is more agile than that. Hopefully his range extends out to the 3 point line like Lorbek did.

Doubtful but I think he will attempt a bunch before he's done here. My hope is he takes a path similar to Suton or AP. IMO, Cooper's freshman year looked a little like Payne's and Suton's and those two turned out to be pretty good.

I'm not predicting Cooper is the next Jokic but have watched the way Izzo ( and DJ who I think we will miss) has developed 4 year project bigs. And, again, Cooper is an athlete.

Cooper averaged under 7 last season, but around 14 in the Tournament.

If we stick with a traditional lineup with a center, he'll get plenty of minutes splitting the 5 with Mady. But, we went with a small lineup at times last year, and I would guess we'll try that also against smaller, more athletic teams.

At best, he'll be the 5th (offensive) option on the floor.
