No, they won’t stockpile talent, but I can imagine the day in the not too distant future when some unofficial representative or rich booster approaches a talented player on an opposing team and offers $$$ to enter the portal, either to transfer to their school, or leave the current team hurting, giving the booster’s school an advantage. We used to get competing news anchors better jobs in other markets , leaving our competition high and dry without their star talent. It’s probably done in a lot of competitive situations.

Interesting to think about, and also to think of who we might have gotten to help us. I don't know about those examples, though. Would MoPete really leave his Flint buddies early in his career? Indont knownhow close they really were when they were young.

Ellsworth was a walk on for a couple of years, so I don't know if he would look to portal as a walk on, or after getting a schollie.

Denicos maybe. That's a good shout.

I think the most likely from that 2013 team would be Langford. Remember how he bounced around positions for 2-3 years. It is almost surprising he didnt transfer under the old rules.
