Interesting. With him not having a new gig, it sounds like he was "let go". Kinda makes sense given the new DL specialist that was just hired.

So, and this is about as stupid as an observation as you can get, but everybody knows my tailgate is just inside I.M. parking lot across from Sparty. One of the things we enjoy the most is the team walk and the band walk in front of us into the stadium. My buddy and I noticed this year, and this is where it gets stupid, that he never walked with other coaches talking and joking like he did with Dantonios staff. He always seemed very serious and he was always by himself. That never had happened before, coaches would walk in groups of two or three doing small talk and waving. We thought it was because he was so intense, I wonder how well he got along with all of the staff? Anyway it’s a very stupid observation but we did notice that, and in our drunken foolishness would say “oh man he’s ready” and then laugh

So, he was a holdover from MD's staff, I guess it makes sense that he would move on ... sadly ...
Re: Burton Departing MSU
Sounds like there was some discontent with the players

Re: Burton Departing MSU
I thought Burton did a great job and really upgraded things from Gill (it was Gill before him, right?).
And I mean no disrespect to him or other members of the staff, but I wonder how many of them Tucker would have hired if he was brought on in December or early January, and not well after signing day? So when a coach leaves, I kind of have this hope that the guy Tucker preferred 2 years ago is attainable now, whether due to timing, available salary, or whatever.

Appears Tucker had made a decision on Burton and whether it was Burton not wanting to change roles or sharing coaching duties, he’s gone.
It’s Tucker’s staff and maybe Burton initially looked like a fit. There aren’t a lot of assistant position coaches who are long term with their 2nd HC.

Tucker demands recuiting?

Now I actually think he was walking alone in the team walk because he wasn’t very well liked. By coaches or by players. Honestly, makes me incredibly sad. Will never know what he was like at practice, I always heard he was great, but it is what it is. I’m telling you in all the home games and team walks he was always by himself.

That’s not news. Everybody knows that, or should, including recruits. Burton departing is news.

From 2020

Seems like something went wrong. I always saw Burton as a positive and don't remember hearing grumblings. Maybe he was just far more comfortable under Dantonio and with Dantonio's staff.
Tucker tweeted Saturday afternoon: "I have known @CoachRonBurton & @CoachMikeTress for almost two decades. It's for #Spartans football to keep them at home. Great coaches. Great recruiters. Great family men. #GoGreen #RELENTLESS"

Re: Burton Departing MSU
Question for DWags because he was in locker rooms and practices.
It’s clear there was a disconnect among the staff per your observation(s). So how often to naming coaches from old staff like Tucker did is to keep a few staff for some temporary continuity?
PS
Interesting developments at the USAF Academy where Burton coached DLine at the academy for a decade before Dantonio hired him.
Air Force has seen DC John Rudzinski on Jan 13 then two days later secondary coach Curome Cox both leave for Virginia’s new staff.
Ronnie Burton Jr (son) is in Colorado Springs as Director of the USAF Academy Foundation.
It’s all about connections and experience. Coaching at the Air Force Academy is unique because there aren’t a lot of tall or wide body’s on campus.
A lot of the cadets go in thinking they want to be pilots and there are size restrictions for cockpits.
A guy I knew in HS went there intent on being a fighter pilot. He played LB in HS, walked on and got moved to DE and became a starter after 3-4 games as freshman and started the next 3 years. Went to flight camp between his junior and season. After 3 years at DE his shoulders were too wide to fit a fighter cockpit. He’s wrapping up his 30 after flying re-fueling jets.

I saw Raymar Morgan give 96% during a two-minute stretch against Alcorn State in 2008 without getting benched. Izzo was busy yelling at a ref, though.

Wow - my comment about a poster not giving 100% went way over everyone's head ...

He was decent in Tecmo Super Bowl. I think he injured Jim Kelly once or twice in some key AFC East games played in my living room.
