The US military emphasis on small unit leadership is one of the reasons the US military is successful conducting warfare. Unlike what you see from the Russian military in Ukraine.
Translation NCOs and Troops in the US are trained to make decisions at the ground level and can function and carry out the mission with little or no direction from higher echelon- which is common in combat when communication links and lines are unavailable.
