Flag-planting incidents draw ire of Big Ten office

Followed by several players, Minnesota running back Laurence Maroney stormed onto the field after upsetting then-No. 21 Michigan 23-20 Saturday and attempted to plant the Minnesota flag in the center of Michigan’s M logo at midfield of Michigan Stadium.

Because the field was made of turf, it didn’t stick. But it did stick with the Big Ten commissioner’s office.

Minnesota Athletics Director Joel Maturi said Wednesday that he received a memo from Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany saying those types of actions won’t be tolerated.

When they say they won't be tolerated what do they mean, suspend all the players, or the entire team, involved for the next game perhaps?

Obviously UM will suspend any players pending a Big Ten investigation.

Plant a flag in Ann Arbor after you beat Michigan it’s considered bad sportsmanship but if Michigan plants a flag it’s considered a celebration.

I want anyone to tell me with a straight face, that after they mocked us on our sidelines, while we were leaving, those two kids didn’t go in the tunnel and talk a bunch more shit. Did they deserve a beat down? No. But at some point in life, everyone has to be taught that you’re gonna find out if you fuck around. That school never learns that lesson.
