Caught deep balls for Malik Cunninghsm at Louisville and transferred to Bama, who was desperate for WRs last year. Big things were expected, but never panned out. Would he even be eligible this year? He would be an interesting deep threat.

“They’re a salty group,” Tucker said of his young secondary. “A lot of those guys got a chance to play during this past season with on-the-job training. … They have a little different look about them when they step on the field now, as opposed to when they were true freshmen just coming in the door. Some of our younger players, they’re some of our more talented guys. I like what I’ve seen so far out of the secondary.”

So, here’s my point: I’m not saying that one of these two young quarterbacks isnt going to be better or just as good as Thorne. However, I have no evidence whatsoever to base that on other than my hope that the staff knows what they’re doing.
There is a certain NFC North division team that many people hope the staff is completely wrong in their choice for quarterback. Sometimes they are sometimes they aren’t. But maybe we shouldn’t be too dismissive of Thorne. Somebody that threw for 39 touchdowns and 7000 yards isn’t bad to have on a roster. However, I get it just move on and don’t look back. I get that too.

It’s a new world recruiting. Any player player rated in the top 30 or 40 nationally at a position who gives a team/coach a verbal still can be open for bidding for his services until at least December Signing Day. If highly sought after bidding might really heat up if they wait for February signing.
High level recruits (and their parents/“advisors”) have adapted to the NIL world quickly. Most have been going to speed/strength /performance coaches since they were in 9th grade or sooner and getting invites to select camps since the summer after 9th grade. They know the market.
MSU has never had a “How much for you need” booster mentality and regardless of Tucker’s salary compared what OSU, USC, Nebraska. PSU or umaa have and they are being outbid by SEC schools.
The days of players like Carl Banks wearing complete MSU gear on campus for his first couple of years because it was free are long gone.

Michigan State football: Makeup of the WR room is still intriguing
When you put it like this...
I hope so...
https://spartanavenue.com/2023/05/14/michigan-state-football-makeup-wr-room-still-intriguing/
When you put it like this...
It’s been quite the offseason thus far for Michigan State football. The Spartans have lost their director of recruiting, head nutrition specialist, pass rush specialist, promising young receiver Germie Bernard, two-year starting quarterback Payton Thorne, and star wide receiver Keon Coleman all to the transfer portal.
A struggling offense lost two of its projected top weapons for 2023.
I hope so...
While Coleman was a really tough loss because he had the potential to be the Spartans’ next 1,000-yard receiver and Bernard had star potential, I think the receiving corps is going to surprise in 2023.
Don’.t believe me? Just look at the athletes that are in the receiver room.
Tyrell Henry, Antonio Gates Jr., Jaron Glover, Tre Mosley, Montorie Foster Jr., and Christian Fitzpatrick. Not a ton of proven talent there, but it is just that: talent.
We also can’t forget the incoming freshmen, Aziah Johnson and Jaelen Smith. These guys could add some depth to that receiver room and they could see the field early on

Not true that MSU hasn't never had the "how much do you need" mentality.
Other B1G schools forced MSU to give up the Ralph Young Fund as a condition of joining the B1G.

It can’t be worse than a year. We were watching games on the Cooking Channel. I think Whiteboy Hatcher bought a set of pans. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I won’t see a national championship in football before I die, basketball yes, I might see one. All I want is a shot at a big 10 championship and the beat Michigan. Sue me.

What do I know, I'm aways confused about the names of things.
To influence that disposition in a positive direction, Michigan State dropped one of its traditions, the Jenison Awards. Since 1942, the college had provided Spartan athletes with scholarships that covered tuition, fees, and books, funded by a bequest from longtime supporter Frederick Cowles Jenison, Although other conferences commonly offered athletic scholarships, the Big Ten frowned on the practice. On 29 May 1947, Hannah appeared at a Big Ten meeting in Highland Park, Illinois, to discuss the Jenison Awards. “We gave great thought to the plan before the awards were inaugurated,” Hannah explained. “We thought it preferable to be open and above board in our aid to athletes rather than to follow the methods we’d seen used elsewhere. There is convenience to point to the absence of scholarships as a sign of purity. These schools merely are dealing from the bottom of the deck. I think it better to list in the college catalog what you are doing. That is our method.” Nevertheless, MSC dropped the Jenison Awards.

So, because I think the Big Ten does cater to the "Big Two" the last couple of years, I thought maybe Michigan's toughest game woudl be a whiteout at PSU. How does the Bigt Ten avoid that? Put MSU/OSU in primetime and UofM PSU at noon.
