Mom picked the egg up around 9:25 this morning and dropped it on the stadium roof.

Very interesting to see. To me she intended to fly it some ways away, but the piece of the shell she was holding broke and it dropped. She seemed unsure what to do after that. But she had to get it out of there, I saw one of the chicks picking at it yesterday. The Pantry wrote:Mom picked the egg up around 9:25 this morning and dropped it on the stadium roof.
FWIW, from what I could see over the last couple of days, there was still a dead chick inside. I am not sure what happened - if the chick started to break out and just wasn't strong enough or the shell broke from some outside force. But it was clear it was no longer viable.

Falcon version of getting dropped on your head as a baby, only it's fatal

Looked like that to me too. Looked like she hopped down to the roof. Edge of the roof is right in front of the nest. Wonder if she was able to carry it away from there or drop it off the roof.MSU addict wrote:Very interesting to see. Another feeding time now. At the rate the little critters eat, surprised if there are any birds left on campus.

Not sure what's going on now. Mom is feeding the chicks but more than one other bird is out of camera view, squawking. Wonder if one of last years brood is having a chat with dad.
