Ended up driving 20 min and getting it from a different dealer. All the asshole had to do was type it in the computer. Lost out on whatever commission they make by being a dbag.
Unfortunately, it’s getting tougher to do that because of the concentration of ownerships. The guy who owned Spartan Toyota also owned about 4 other Toyota dealerships in the Lower Peninsula. I think he recently sold to LaFontaine or some other dealer who owns a gazillion dealerships.

Don't knock minivans. They're great. Can still fit 4x8 sheets of plywood/drywall in the Chrysler Pacifica. Excellent long-distance trip vehicles with plenty of room for up to 6 people.tGreenWay wrote:Travis seems like a minivan guy. That’s what he should get.

So what, a Yukon or Sequoia-type? Both are sharp looking vehicles that will haul a trailer full of used diapers (for when uncle Turtleneck travels with you).
I guess, I don’t really know. Tahoe was the only thing I was aware of that can do what I’d be looking for, but I imagine that there are others.
Can minivans tow up to like 7500 pounds

I'd go with either a Suburban or Yukon XL instead of the Tahoe/Yukon because of the longer wheelbase.Travis of the Cosmos wrote:tGreenWay wrote:

My youngest rolled it 360 when he over corrected on black ice. Sheriff deputy was about 1/4 mile behind him and saw it. When he called he said “I dented the roof”. Car had 399K on it and the biggest repair was replacing the AC compressor @ 200K.
I’m looking at replacing my 2011 Ford Fusion that’s got 249K and beginning to rust. Looking at a small SUV but I’ve found the chip shortage has shrunk the 2019-2021 used market. Lots of folks buying used plus fewer made.
In a lot of cases the 2-3-4 year old SUV’s like Subaru Forrester, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 used have 35K a year miles on them and those with lower miles are often so close to new you are better off to buy new with a lower interest rate.
Frustrating as hell.

Lot of idiots on the road. Split-second judgment decisions. Sometimes best to slam on the brakes. Other times best to hit the gas to avoid situations.

Although there are all the obvious drawbacks if speed is your "thing" the follow Tom Cruise's example and ride a motorcycle. HP to weight outdoes most cars.

As noted "obvious drawbacks". However a motorcycle has the acceleration to use speed to get out of any situation where speed, and size, and maneuverability (if the rider is trained to use it) will help.

It’s better looking than any Land Cruiser that Toyota has put out in decades. The way they took every ounce of personality from that car is embarrassing. It’s like the person who was supposed to be updating everything about it went on leave and nobody noticed, so it’s still a rolling rectangle that gets seven miles to the gallon in the city.

The J80 Land Cruiser (1990-1998) and J80 Lexus LX 450 (1996-1997) are the best vehicle’s ever made. IMHO.

TBH, they aren’t my favorites, but I’m partial to the smaller versions in earlier years/decades. Were the LC and LX on the same platform? They look a lot alike.

Not sure but the LX and even the later GX were body on frame instead of unibody for quite a while. That one year run of LX 450 was the same platform as the LC. It was identical in every way. Just rebadged as a Lexus.

Chrysler town and country.
Best
Vehicle
I’ve
Ever
Owned.
Comfortable, roomy great travel car. Kids soccer trips all over the Midwest. Family trips to Florida to DC to northern Michigan. Three girls who brought a ton of stuff. Didn’t care. I just said, “sure, keep packing”. Great on gas.
Highly recommend. What is it, the Pacifica now?

For some reason we went the E150 Window Van route. All of what you said except the gas mileage was in the 15 to 20 mpg range. With a 38-gallon tank that still worked out to way more miles between fill ups than anyone wanted to ride.

Drove one of our E150's 4 miles through 3 foot plus snow drifts on a dirt road between open farm fields during a 20 mph, 6 to 12 inches of snow per hour blizzard to get my family back to our farm. The ground clearance & weight of 2.5 tons was what got us through, well along with my outstanding driving. Pretty sure for our applications the mini-van wasn't the choice.
edit - that said, for a family a minivan is a great choice, as long as your using it as an oversized station wagon and not, as I was, as an enclosed truck.

It’s my wife that doesn’t want a minivan. She’s probably right that our next car needs to be something with trailer capacity. But fuck I’d love to get a minivan it was awesome.
