It’s my wife that doesn’t want a minivan. She’s probably right that our next car needs to be something with trailer capacity. But fuck I’d love to get a minivan it was awesome.
How big of a trailer?
If you are talking horses would you want a pickup with a 5th wheel hitch?

So you’re saying your next vehicle needs horse power?

Hauling beloved horses around is better on a 5th wheel for their air conditioned trailer, just saying. Today's crew cab pickup trucks will carry your family of 6, all their luggage and still have extra space.

Lol we use to have a chevette “scooter”. I think it’s the lowest end chevette you could get. I blew the clutch out doing donuts on a baseball field in Kearsley.

A former neighbor’s kid quit his job and sold his house. Planned to drive all over the country seeing America. He bought a Ford F450 and put a monstrous camper in the bed (no 5th wheel). The 450 on its own was gigantic, but adding the camper made the thing look like something NASA planned to send into space. Can’t imagine the poor gas mileage but the engine sounded like a semi. That did not seem like something I would enjoy, despite loving those pickup truck campers when I was a wee one.

lol We called it the shovette. It was terrible. Worse than the Vega. It was Yugo-level bad. I was afraid I’d die in a crash in that thing and it would be my legacy: “Cub reporter dies in a Chevette”

Huge except for the number one usage, size of the box. Very few have an 8 ft box anymore. To make it less usable the floors are way too high.

Best hauling vehicles I ever owned were full sized vans, not sure anyone makes them anymore.

GM still offers the GMC Savana and Chevy Express, both made at the Wentzville MO plant, which is now on strike.Trapper Gus wrote:The Pantry wrote:Chrysler Pacifica (Grand Caravan) still fits 4x8 foot plywood/drywall inside or can seat 7-8.

Only van I ever had was a 94 GMC Safari AWD which was considered midsize. I really liked it. Handled pretty well for a van and the AWD was nice. Had the 3 door rear. Wife hated it because the front passenger seat footwell was pretty cramped, especially on long trips. Traded it in for 96 Suburban.

I started vans with a used GMC full sized fan, don't remember which year it was, then had an 87 Dodge, then 92 Ford Club Wagon and then a 96 Ford Club Wagon. Take the seats out of any of them and you can haul a houseful of furnishings. On a good day with the smaller V8 they might get 13 mpg. Never liked the sliding doors on vans, except for the used one always had hinged swinging doors. As far as I know, now, all the "big three" full sized vans are import designs from the EU, lower to the ground, not really a truck, more like an inflated car.

GM experimented with unibody vans but the current full size are back to body on frame.Trapper Gus wrote:The Pantry wrote:
