Patrick Geary made most of opportunity, now thriving with Michigan State hockey

When Adam Nightingale was first hired at Michigan State, one of the first recruits who gave a pledge to his program was Patrick Geary.

Geary, who was playing in his second season with the USHL's Waterloo Blackhawks at the time as a committed Spartan recruit, watched Nightingale's first MSU team overachieve and nearly make the NCAA tournament.

Geary knew he would have his work cut out for him when he arrived — especially when potential top-five NHL draft pick Artyom Levshunov was a late MSU recruit to bolster the blue line.

Cripes, how many seats do the minor league teams around the state seat? They could have sites at Flint, grand rapids, saginaw...

Would love to see the bidding process for this year's tournament. They must have overbid to make up for the loss in ticket sales to the NCAA. It's a great facility for hockey, just not a bigger event like the NCAA. They must be pimping it to get amateur hockey tournaments down the road.

Maybe they need to do it like women's basketball, and have 2 regionals/site. Or pick sites that will consistently support it. Or even go back to campus sites or regional/local alternatives.

Tickets are now sold out for both sessions. Which isn't exactly a hug accomplishment.

Denver is the 1 seed in their region, and have to play UMASS in Massachusetts. That seems messed up.
