I think I’m pretty excited. When news about Tucker broke, I was already not following the season, but the initial reports had me ready to put my MSU stuff back in storage. After yesterday’s press conference, I felt significantly more positive about the football program and the university. I don’t think that Mel made that much of a positive impact on the team, as all he seemed to do was clap, do that stupid chop clap, and sweat profusely. Maybe Halontonio won’t be able to salvage the season. Maybe they’ll surprise us all and get us to 7-8 wins. Whatever happens, I feel pretty excited that we’ll have leadership we can be proud of for the remainder of the season. Also hoping for a good Dantonio redemption arc/Spartan Stadium sendoff.

I think Barnett is going to be given every opportunity to be the Head Coach, and not just on an interim basis. A lot of people want him to succeed.

I think adding MD was brilliant. Let Barnett coach. You know the media is going to be sticking microphones in MD’s face, not HB.

I’d have to think the team has respect for HB. By all accounts he’s authentic and that has to resonate with the team. This does have potential to be a blessing in disguise.

I was thinking thay MD would intentionally avoid the media so as not to take the limelight away from Barnett. But on the other hand, that's a good point that he could be put more front and center so as to take the limelight and media pressure away from Barnett.

I was listening to Staudt today (this post brought to you by the Golf Haus) on my way to Whole Foods and he had someone on (not sure who it was) who kept talking about how he is certain that there will be a push for Barnett to be the permanent hire. That players love him, they'll go rally at Cowles House in support of him, etc.

And he acted like that was the worst thing ever. He was saying some things that I didn't entirely agree with. He made it sound like Kirby Smart would break his neck to come to MSU and with the consistent turmoil where we can't keep stepping on own dicks, I'm not sure that's the case.

anyway, I'm excited about Barnett. I can see the players rallying around him and playing with a lot of energy, enthusiasm. I kinda wish his first game wasn't vs Washington and Penix but on the upside, at least it's at home in SS.

I see your points about 2023 coach D Greenway. But we both know we don't need fire in his belly or x and o's from him right now. Just a steady/temporary hand to help guide this ship through stormy waters. Ironically, the real deep end.

That said, give Dantonio the pre-game locker room speech before the U of M game. That fire in his belly will never go out.
