For some strange reason when I broke my second tape measure this month, I thought of this thread.  The first one was a Craftsman that was well over 20 years old, it did not owe me anything.  The second was Crescent/Lufkin that was less than a year old.  That one kinda pissed me off.

It's not like I am a contractor - but I do build sets and props for a local community theater group.  But to my original point- it happens.  I tossed them and moved on.

I’ve had success with a small “Executive” Lufkin that I’ve had for probably decades. It’s worked well every time I’ve needed it, which is not often and only small, no-stretch jobs. It’s roughly the size of a half-dollar coin and 1/4” thick. Fits real comfortably in my pocket. Liked it so much I bought NOS off ebay. It doesn’t look as well made, but I’ll give it a chance.

That the rebar got bent up that bad in the first place seems like an indicator it should not be straightened for construction purposes.

fwiw...Our new building is only 4 years old. The 2nd floor is polished concrete with carpet tiles in areas to deaden noise. When we first moved in the floor had a few cracks in it...no big deal. Since then multiple new cracks have developed. I figure it's just settling in, but it's weird I can feel the floor moving when someone walks past my cube.

Now I’m pissed. Flight delayed for a second time. I hate airports.

Sure, redbud, crabapple, and decorative cherry trees are pretty in the spring, but the rest of the year they’re just a waste. Redbud seeds go everywhere and new growth pops up all around the yard, while crabapples and cherries are an absolute mess in the fall. Not even wildlife around here wants to eat that shit. Chop ‘em all down.

I’ll be getting rid of the one in my yard, then hopefully they’ll stop seeding everywhere. It’s in really poor shape, as are the cherry and crabapple. I’ll replace them with other smaller, native pollinator trees.

Anneal ~750 ˚C. Still cheaper than total manufacture.

I went driving out of the sub this morning and right past a dead skunk in the middle of the sub's main thoroughfare. I'm pretty sure that's the skunk I used to have to keep an eye out for on my early morning walks when it's still dark. That bugger actually scurried up tree when I startled it yesterday morning. RIP, Stinky.

I was yesterday years old when I learned.

As long as not too close, I kinda like the smell of skunk. Reminds me of being Up North.

Quick Stinky update: Someone (something?) moved Stinky from the middle of the street to the strip of grass between the curb and sidewalk. If you're going to do that, why not just bag it?

Get used to it DWags. Air travel is the 21st Century Greyhound including all those folks trying to stuff their oversized duffle into an overhead taking up the whole compartment designed for 2 or 3 carryons.

I booked our holiday trip to New England (mid Dec- 1st week in Jan) shortly after Labor Day.

Have had 3 flight time changes since. Arriving at 9:00pm instead of 2:30pm. Both departures have been moved up about an hour earlier. Departure is still 8 weeks away.

Hoping for some mellow days ahead.

Never smoked much. Frankly, skunk smells better than weed IMO.

6800 UAW members went on strike this morning at the RAM final assembly plant.  Only 4 companies on our street across from the plant.  We are the only company that doesn't sequence parts/assemblies to the truck plant.  The other companies parking lots were near empty this afternoon.  None of them are union so guessing hundreds of layoffs today.  Lot of truckers and area businesses will also be affected.  

Can't imagine Stellantis wants that plant closed for long as it's their largest and most profitable.

GM's Arlington plant went on strike today. That's where they make all the expensive full size SUVs. Including Ford's Kentucky truck plant the UAW has now shutdown all the big hitters.

Got to work about 6am today. Picketers were out even then and prevented a vehicle from turning left into the assembly plant parking lot. Car ended up sitting across the EB lanes of 17 Mile backing up traffic.

I usually don’t mind playing with the spam bots because they’re obvious but that one was too good to be left alive lol

Been to KTP numerous times. One of the most well run plants I’ve been to. You don’t want to see a call come through about a QC issue coming through at 7pm on a Thursday. You will be their by 8am on Friday. They take their flagship truck series.

Never been to Arlington. These are definitely among their highest grossing plants (probably #1 for each).

So, a neighbor kid who more or less lived in my backyard for his first 9-10 years with my kids, then moved away... is apparently on the Spartan cheer squad this year. Crazy looking down and seeing him all growed up.

HR sent an email today asking everyone to wear their "Lions gear" on Monday. Never owned any Lions stuff. Should I buy something?
