Easy to say half way through a season in which making the inaugural Playoff is a good possibility. No way he comes back if he leads MSU to great things. Good to hear, but it is bad form for any QB, in their Jr. year to say they are looking forward to the draft this spring, after the season is done.

Dan was worried coming in how the interview would go and said he wasn't totally for it (on TV simulcast, don't think that part is on the radio)

Definitely a more off the cuff interview. Cook was just honest like talking to a buddy on the couch watching sports, didn't sound very polished for this type of interview...

Who's best athlete in your family?

Hmm... Obviously myself. Ha. My sister,um, she's fairly athletic but she's a girl so in more athletic than her. My dad was but the older he gets the less coordinated you get.

Went on longer with that about his dad running routes to just standing there and even dropping passes.

What did it do to the confidence level when you lost at Oregon early?

Uh, to my confidence level?

Oh, uh, I don't think it lowered our confidence level at all. If anything it made us hungrier. You know when you lose a close game like that you know that you were very capable of winning it. You walk away saying we would have done this/that we could have won. I don't think it hurts your confidence level at all. I think it makes you hungrier, you know, motivates you to go out and play harder and win every game from here on out

Did you just decide to go back to Michigan state for your senior year after hearing mclovin has a crush on you and knowing the other QBs he's had a crush on that it might hurt your draft stock?

I was planning on it the whole time before this conversation.

DP - You were?

CC - yeah. I mean, who wants to, you know, leave college. College is fun. You make great relationships with people here - um, especially the coaches, teammates and you know I've obviously thought about my parents but we're just taking it one week at a time as the season goes. But my main goal is to use up all my eligibility here at Michigan State.

DP - Why would you leave early?

CC - um obviously if your one of the top QBs that are going to be picked and you're guaranteed a first round pick, but um, you know I really haven't paid attention to what the critics and scouts have been saying. I know for me I'm just focused on the season, focused on winning each and every week and then when it comes time to talk about it then it's time, but looking at it you know ever since I've been here I've always that about using all my eligibility, all my years here and finish at Michigan state and never leave early

Uhhh I mean I saw them you know run out of the tunnel and they all gathered up doing something, showboating. And I saw, I don't know what it was, but I saw them jam something into our turf. And you could say it upset is a little bit. I think you saw that in the first drive

Didn't watch playoff show. Doesn't care.
We only care about what we can control. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. If we take care of business and make it to Indy and are able to win there, then everything else will fall into place. Never paid attention to rankings or who is ahead of who. Just focus on going out and winning every week

They were weird about it. They talked about him for like 2 minutes after he hung up. They seemed kind of surprised that he didn't act all choir boy-ish like Kirk Cousins and even said something to that effect. Said it was an "interesting interview". I don't think Dan liked that he didn't really seem to be in awe of him or his radio show. I was kinda surprised cuz it just sounded like a regular college athlete interview to me.

Wow! He ain't Kirk Cousins. They were struggling with what to make of a confident sounding college junior. "What would make you leave after this year?" Number one draft pick...............duh. Like Cook said, "what's not to like about being in college?"
