The Village is an underated film
Much better than people give it credit for. Yes the idea it is based on is impossible, but that's true of a lot of good films. Suspension of disbelief is required for most stories. If you read the reviews and never gave it a chance I'd suggest giving it a viewing.

M night shamalama had a great movie in sixth sense, an okay movie in unbreakable, a slightly less okay movie in the village and after that it just went off the rails.

Signs was good too.
I still don't get Lady In The Water. However, The Happening was another one that is underated.

Oh good god. The Sixth Sense was only great if you hadn't ever seen a decent movie in that genre before, was utter shite otherwise.Rocinante wrote:M night shamalama had a great movie in sixth sense, an okay movie in unbreakable, a slightly less okay movie in the village and after that it just went off the rails.

What did the aliens do when it rained? Did they have raincoats? Umbrellas?
How did they take showers?

Re: The Village is an underated film
Sixth Sense - Very enjoyable
Unbreakable - I enjoyed it, but understand why some didn't, and I'm not a comic book guy
Signs - I enjoyed it, great balance of campy and suspense (though they should have hired a baseball swing coach to consult on the film)
Lady in the Lake - I know I saw it, but don't remember a thing
The Village - absolutely horrible
The Happening - horrible. The R rating was supposed to take the restraints off M. Knight's creativity, but ended up being a crutch

Can't wait to see, Sundowning.
Also wasn't impressed with After Earth. But then I'm not a sci fi fan.

Yeah I completely forgot about signs. Okay until the reveal. Our atmosphere has water vapor in it. As far as I could see those fuckers were breathing. Plus it's a blatant ripoff of war of the worlds. And Bee, you have to be trolling saying the happening was good. It was laughably terrible.

Dude. At the time it came out, nothing like that had been done on that scale. It was a groundbreaking film. The problem was, MKS spent the next 20 years trying to recreate it and took more and more control over every aspect of his films.

24% of the audience liked the movie. He could be in that percentage.Rocinante wrote:Yeah I completely forgot about signs. Okay until the reveal. Our atmosphere has water vapor in it.
