I know what my answer would have been pre-Dantonio. That is all I wanted the last 30 years (more like 8+ wins before the 12 games and watered down schedules).
Right now we are greedy and expect more. But damn that is good. You can count on one hand the number of programs that can average that clip.

Depends on who MSU beats to get these 1/2 wins.

If asked in 1984 or 1994 or 2004 the answer would have been hell yes, where do I sign up? By 2006 I was of the opinion that it didn't matter who coached MSU football, our ceiling was a 9 or 10 win season once a decade. I've never been so happy to be wrong and don't want to go back to mediocrity.

If few or none of those wins weren't against UM, OSU and Wisconsin, no. 9 wins should be the floor, not the ceiling. That's how UM had such an inflated record back in the 70's. Beat up the JV teams, split with the one good team in the conference and have your ass handed to you in the bowl game. At least 9+ wins, but beat nobody of consequence. That's Nebraska now.
At some point you have to compete for conference championships AND win the majority of your bowl games.

If you win 9+ you are competing for championships every year. You would think your number comes up and you put it all together at least once in that time frame.
I know another way of asking this would be if you would accept 3+ losses a year and the answer would be no.
OSU, UM, PSU, MSU, UW, Iowa are all trying to win all their games too. OSU is the only one left that can realistically expect that. UM, Nebraska and PSU might have done it historically but they no longer have that advantage. OSU does because of geography.

I'd accept 9 wins as long as they came in the first 8 weeks.
Thanks Dantonio.

No one is going to accept 9 wins next season because we expect to play for at least the Big Ten title. That is unbelievable to think that 10-2 is ho hum and winning at PSU is taken for granted.
It might not last forever but we are a f***ing powerhouse right now.

Jealously. That is what it seems to come down to. Being consistently good is not good enough because you want what someone else has. Nebraska already went through this 20 years ago because going 12-1 and losing to Miami in the Orange Bowl wasn't good enough. They had to get with the times. Same for UM - be careful what you wish for.
Unfortunately, we have seen many MSU hoops fans going down this same road. At least I don't think Izzo would actually be on the hot seat for "only" going to sweet 16s.

Modern schedule has 2 automatic wins , so we are taking 7.5 wins out of 10/11/12/13/14
It depends.
Would rather have 1 or 2 losses per year rather than 4 to 5. So that would be 10.5 wins
Since I'm not one of the big boys paying for the program my "acceptance" is pretty meaningless.

If it meant the new playoff every 2-3 years, then yes.
