Swanigan said he would wait to announce until sometime after his senior season wrapped up. That happened Saturday night when Swanigan's HS team captured an Indiana 4A title in OT. Swanigan finished with 20 and 14.

MUSKEGON, MI – Deyonta Davis might be playing dual roles this week when he suits up for the McDonald’s All-American Game.
Davis, Muskegon’s 6-foot-10 post player bound for Michigan State, will be playing on the West squad for Wednesday’s high school all-star basketball game in Chicago and likely putting in a good word for the Spartans with other recruits.
With Davis in the fold, the top of the recruiting list for the Spartans is uncommitted five-star recruit Caleb Swanigan, who is also playing for the West team. Swanigan, a 6-foot-8 center ranked No. 8 nationally by ESPN, has narrowed his list down to seven, including MSU, Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, Purdue, California and Chicago State.

Weeks after hearing about Chicago State being in his final seven, I'm still befuddled.
Is that like a real university that actually plays Div I basketball or is it a fallback if he has bad grades (which I've not seen anything negative in that regard).

It is a real school that plays DI basketball. Depending on the route you take to/from Chicago from/to Michigan, you might pass it on 94. MSU is 2-0 in games versus Chicago State.
The Chicago State head coach has a lot of experience coaching in both Illinois and Indiana. In a link on page three of this thread, Swanigan says the coach knows his father. I suspect it has something to do with a longstanding relationship.

I read somewhere it was his 1st offer so he's kept them on his list out of respect for that.

The quote about wanting to play 2 years in college so he can go into the pros as a superstar and not have to develop is interesting.
Also, we aren't getting Swanigan. imo.

Logic. No inside info. No bolts.
If Duke, Kansas and Kentucky are in the mix we aren't getting a kid 9 times out of 10. They have more to offer both literally and from a NBA opportunity standpoint. You've gotta be one sick tough sonofabitch to want to come here and do what we do when you can go to those other places as a NBA training camp and get some additional perks along the way.

I think the 2 year plan is a spin that Cal might be using. This kid needs to develop a jump shot.

Says in that article that Davis & Swanigan are roomies for the week. Deyonta needs to close the deal and we're set for another run next year.

As expected, decision coming next month...
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Caleb-Swanigan-updates-recruitment-decision-coming-in-April-36505774
Five-Star center Caleb Swanigan updates his recruitment from the McDonald's All-American Game Practices in a video interview with PrepHoops Illinois. He recently cut his list to seven schools: Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, California, Arizona, Purdue and Chicago State and talks about all of them in the video linked below.
Swanigan goes on to say he'll announce his decision "sometime this month," likely meaning in April.

If Swanigan wants to come here, cool. If not, oh well.
If you don't jump at an opportunity to play for Izzo at such a great school, i don't know what to say.

Yup. If you wanna go to the NBA asap, go spend a year getting high and running a train on the SEC while living in UK's luxury dorm (can't blame them for that). But if you want to have a great college experience and play some good basketball, why the hell go anywhere other than MSU?

CBB recruiting is such a joke....
"A lot of us have similar schools, so we want to see who goes where and if we want to play with them or not," said Stephen Zimmerman, a 7-footer from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman who's considering Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona and UNLV.
Kentucky and Kansas aren't sure who's going pro, who's coming back and how many scholarships will be available.

I think most of that is already known, but you can't have kids make commitments until after kids announce they are leaving (thus opening up scholarships), or it would look shady.

The Harrison twins shouldn't leave, but they might. Cauley-Stein, Towns, Lyles, Booker are the only sure things right now. I don't see Johnson, Ulis or Lee leaving.
