Any lawyers left?
Quick question.
Should I be looking for representation? My son is positive for Hep C antibodies. This means he's been exposed to Hep C, but doesn't have the active virus. I've already contacted the hospital and the CDC, because I'm not sure. My boss thinks I should contact a lawyer. My wife and I both got tested after we found out he was positive, and we're both negative. My son is 7.5 months old.

Tanfan seems like a good resource on this. I recall him mentioning tort reform, so my guess is he might have something to do with malpractice.

yeah, I agree - reach out to Tanfan - not only is he an attorney, but he practices in Florida (seems like you live in the "sunshine state", right?) - I know he seems to drive some people crazy (for some reason) but I suspect he's a pretty good guy..
who would be great to have a beer with, by the way.

So did he have to have a transfusion?

No transfusions. The last week in the hospital was for a staph infection, although by the 3rd day they couldn't detect the infection anymore, the antibiotics have to run for 7 days.LoneWolfSparty wrote:So did he have to have a transfusion?

Hmmm. I would definitely contact a lawyer. Have to cover yourself.

Well, the Director of Medical Affairs from the hospital just contacted me. Apparently the numbers are very low, hopefully this is just a false positive.

That sucks donkey dick. Yep, consult an attorney: might be a free consult, depending on whether it's somebody who's thinking of taking it on contingency, rather than at an hourly rate (ask before you schedule an appointment -- no point in getting a nasty surprise).
I'll check in at tRCMB and PM Tanfan to check this thread. Good luck, dude.

In ten. I was in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday and Friday I mediated a case. I'm free next week to talk. Hopefully it's just a false positive. You will want to get they independently verified.

Re: Any lawyers left?
I have enough other issues to worry about. I was more worried about who would cover the cost of Hep C. My son is only 7 months old and has downs, he's going to need open heart surgery sometime in the next 2 years.ÂMarc Summers wrote:Now be honest.......
Were you kind of hoping it was medical malpractice so it would come with a huge payday? I mean Hep C is mostly curable, so it's not like he's likely to have issues down the road from it.....
In closing, fuck you.

There are 'options'. It isn't an easy decision.Marc Summers wrote:
Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear about the Downs. That does sound like you will have hands full.
Aren't they able to test for Downs before the kid is born? You know, to give you "options"?

Wonderful News! So glad it wasn't something else for you to deal with.
You are truly the right father for him. I don't think I could be that strong and handle that. Kudos to you and your wife. You're good people.

I don't know why I'm responding to you, but the point is not that options are available guy. InTen and his wife had the baby, regardless of whether they knew or not. What kind of an asshole says something like that, intimating that if he/she knew that his/her child would be disabled they should have aborted it? You really are a sociopath.

I'm reasonably confident that his new angle is to try to prove that he can get banned on the board where no one can get banned. He is basically the Joker to our Dark Knight. Just ignore him. Or kill Heath Ledger again. Either way really.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:
