Re: tOfficial 2015 Detroit Tigers thread
Brutal.
I'm going to urge y'all to tap the brakes here, though. Again.
This team is missing key pieces, and also just getting bad breaks at this point. Last year's SF Giants were < 500 the 2nd half of the year, and had 2 6 game losing streaks. Let's remember that MLB is a game of attrition, and the team that gets hot in September/October is usually the team that wins it all.
Talent-wise, this team still trumps the division. KC is close, but I like the makeup of this year's Tiger team. It is not nearly as top heavy as it was last year. This team will hit this year. Kinsler, Cabrera, Cespedes and JD are all slumping. They all have proven track records. Castellanos clearly has some talent in the hitting department. Victor will be back, and he will hit.
If anything I'm concerned about the SP. I think Greene has the talent and has the makeup. He just needs to find his way. However, Big Pasta is gonna fade in the 2h. I think and hope Anibal will find his stuff. He will. He's a really good pitcher with great stuff. JV and Price are going to need to carry things and I'm worried because I just don't know if last year was a fluke or a sign of things to come for Verlander.
Barring disaster (i.e. Victor and JV get hurt again trying to come back, Miggy dies in a garbage disposal accident, and JD remembers his Houston Astro days) , this team will be within 3 games of the Division lead and/or wild card come September 1. I'd stake blanch's life on that.

My good buddy born in SF is a die hard Giants fan and from looking at his FB posts last season it was pretty similar to the posts we had on this board during our bball season during the struggles. Their bp blew a lot of saves and he would melt down when it happened.
Pence and Sandoval had some brutal slumps during the regular season, and both heated up in the playoffs.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. This is the worst sequence we've seen since the run started in 2006. But it blows my mind to hear people talking like it's already over and trade Price/trade Miggy/trade Yoenis. Jesus christ, it's fucking June 1st or something.

Drew Sharp isn't half bad as a baseball writer. I agree with just about every point he makes in this article.

No one is running away with this Division, Detroit included. The Royals have lost 9 of their last 11. They are 15-16 since May 1st.steveschneider wrote:Was out for a dinner, glad the goddamn slump is over.

Watching the Cardinals vs. Dodgers right now. Clayton Kershaw is one of those pitchers that makes you pause and go wow. Just awesome stuff.

Verlander pitched pretty well at Toledo tonight. Fastball around 92-94, 93 total pitches. Will be up for a start next week.
Took care of the boys pretty well after the game too...

I've given you a little shit since the swill kicked up, but I get that. That shit is brutal and definitely not for everyone. I love it but I get where you're coming from. I do jiu jitsu and it's a fucking meat grinder

Also, I work in the tiger front office right now. I gotta tell you guys, DD feels really confident in this team moving forward and he thinks they'll be just fine. Also got to hear the commissioner speak on Tuesday, says mexico city is a likely place for expansion in the future. So there's that.

Three records that won't fall in our life times: ripkens streak, favres steak and bill goldbergs. Gotta tip your hat to the greats.

Yeah, it's awesome. We use it all the time.
Dodgers won 2-0. Kershaw 11 ks 1 hits and I think 2 walks.
A second fan ran onto the field in the 9th as well so there was some odd shit going on in LA I'm out. Zzz

LA does better attendance than anyone else in baseball and I don't understand it. Those fans are fairweather assholes but they show up in droves for April/May baseball. They're going to hit 4 million fans this year. Tigers would be lucky to touch 2.8 million by contrast

Classic park, a franchise rich with history and just a huge sports market. Never really paid attention to attendance, but when I looked at the list I noticed Anaheim just 30 miles from LA is #6 in attendance.
That's two teams within a 30 mile radius pulling in close to 7 million people.

That was scary. LaRoche let that bat fly.
Nice gaffe by Garcia in RF to give Collins a triple. RBI for JD, 4-2.
