I currently suck at golf. 102 on Friday at Timber Ridge. First time in probably 20 years I've been in triple digits. Carried over to league last night but I did beat Jingles, who also currently sucks.

With a score like that I’d be competing.

It's a hard game fucking Steve. But seriously, it's clearly all in my head right now. Spraying drives all over the golf course, losing balls and chunking irons ( usually the best part of my game.)
Add in a terrible short game and yips with the putter......bingo 102.
I'll keep grinding and get it back.

You'll get it back my man I'm rooting for you.
Had a round yesterday, doing great and then on one hole with my wedge I friggin launched a line driver way over the green into the woods. I was friggin pissed. Put up a quad on that hole as a result and ruined my round. Put me at about 51 for the round. Golf is friggin hard.

For a good part of this season I was just using 3 wood off the tee and it's solid strategy imo if the driver is giving you problems. Driver recently what's been working for me is focus on slow take away, get the hips turning first (hips, shoulders then arms) and I've been focusing on my finish bringing the club up fluidly. I watched a video and I was pulling the club across and instead of coming up.
It's a hard club and I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope that helps.

Bring them hands in on your downswing. Imagine you’re rock hard and try to nip the tip of your cock with your hands as you come through the ball. Should help.
Jokes aside, imagine a ping pong ball with you holding a paddle. If you want to hook it, you’re going to bring the paddle from the outside of the ball to the inside. If you want to go the other way, you’re going to bring it from the inside out. I haven’t seen you swing, but that might be what your club head is doing as you come through it, giving it that spin

For a Duckhook looks like the face is closing at impact...
https://theleftrough.com/duck-hook-golf/
Maybe try tweeking the grip a bit (weaken it), moving the ball a bit back in the stance or opening the face slightly at address. I'd probably start with the grip.

Otpt without seeing your swing path my first thought is to weaken your left hand. By that I mean wherever your left hand is when you grip the club, rotate your hamd slightly to the left. I’d say start with your thumb in the 12 o’clock position and adjust accordingly.

Watching the Ryder cup on the golf channel ahead of this weeks Ryder cup in Wisconsin.
They had a thing on our 1981 team. Holy cow. Look it up. Or, better yet, guess who was on it before you look it up.
Hint: 11 of the 12 had won majors. Many had multiple majors. The 12th would win a major.
We won by over 9 points. Still Europe’s worst defeat.

I'll get irons from Ebay, woods and other clubs I'll go through the used club selection at Golf Galaxy or Dicks. I don't care about a few nicks or scratches, I don't think it will affect my game that much.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:looking to buy a new set of clubs.. was thinking about the Taylor made 2017 m2s.. where do y'all get your club/sets?
Most of the ebay sellers are local clubs who get a national audience and the prices aren't that bad. If you have Paypal credit, you can take 6 months to pay it off interest free.

If money isn't an issue, go get a fitting. I don't know how often you play or what your skill level is.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:intensity i know you know your golf.. any specific sets/brands/models you'd suggest? not worried about $
I use the Callaway Rogue X. I don't know what makes it an X though.
I hit my 8 around 160 and the 7 around 165-170.
They are cavity back though, so not as much control. I did have some blades and still carry an 8 and a PW that are blades, for when I want to put spin on the ball. No, I'm not backing it up 10 feet or anything, but I can get it to stop on the green.
I dropped my driver for a 3 wood. I have an old Rocket Ballz 3 wood and a newer Callaway Rogue 4w (I hit the 4w slightly further than the 3 a lot of times)
At this point, if I'm going to spend $$, it will be on another putter. I have a Bettinardi forged bladed putter. I love it, but everyone is different.
I don't know if that helped. Go to a golf store, most of them let you hit the clubs. Search around for places that might be having club days, where you get to sample the clubs.

Yes, forest Akers…. Let me know if you want specific info about that but I’m not sure it matters given where you live.
Absolutely take lessons though. It’s worth it if you get the right instructor. I try to take one a month, which really works out to be like 5 a year. Watching myself swing frame by frame was really helpful for me to get what I was doing wrong. Biggest tip I can give is that as soon as I leave a lesson I have a google doc that I write everything I can remember down in before I even leave the parking lot. when something stops working I reference it to remember what I did wrong before.

Re: The Golf Thread
I've never taken lessons, but I'm going to this year. My short game is beyond frustrating, but it is also where I'm at, I think. Out of the rough near the green, I'm pretty good. On the fairway, not so bueno. I'll putt from about 20 yards out, if I can. I've had tendinitis for about the last year and it seems to have finally healed. I shot a 91 about a week ago, which I haven't done in over a year. I'll be happy if I can get back into the high 80's again.
Good choice of clubs, I don't know anything about them, but they seem like they are probably good value as you learn. I'm really not even sure anymore if there is that much difference in the clubs until you get to the blades, but anything made today is better than 10 years ago.

Re: The Golf Thread
I was trying to find it! But in the general direction of the 2nd pic, I think.
In about a year that golf course probably won't exist anymore. Instead there is going to be a soccer complex? Anyway, we figure it is only good to play on for another month or 2. I'm not sure how much maintenance is going to be put into a place that is going to be bulldozed over.

Better a soccer complex than more condos, right? btw, are your kids going to be playing on those fields? If they are, check to see if any of the soil is going to be remediated? Golf courses use a crap ton of chemicals and I wonder if/how it affects people, especially children, kicking up dust/dirt as they run around during games. Maybe it’s not a thing and I’m being overly cautious.

Apparently the land is contaminated from Andrew. That is part of the deal is that they need to do is decontaminate it. When I say soccer complex, I mean another soccer stadium, I don't think kids are going to be playing there. Although there would be room for a few fields. No my kids aren't really interested though. Kaelin likes golf, because she doesn't sweat as much. Kyle would rather play basketball.tGreenWay wrote:InTenSity wrote:I was trying to find it! But in the general direction of the 2nd pic, I think.

So reading parts of this, yes they will have soccer fields there. We'll see how it turns out. If I'm still in Miami when its developed. My house goes up another 200k and I might be looking to bolt.

You’ve got the right idea, selling if your home jumps like that, because we know it’s probably going to drop back in a bit short short while. The problem becomes finding something for yourself. And yeah, I was thinking of a complex of fields like we have in EL, not a stadium.
