"The Ravens sent along a seventh- round pick to the Lions, while the Ravens received a pick in the fourth and fifth rounds, according to numerous reports."

Not quite Suh-like but he has a respectable mix of fines, plus the PED suspension last season

PED vs. Aderal. Not the same thing in the grand scheme of things. Plus this guy is no bullshit and way cheaper since we're only paying half his contract next year.
Great trade

Also knows Caldwell and Austin. Not the same as Suh, but a lot less money and a lot less baggage. For a couple of draft picks? Respectable trade. Nice move, Mayhew.

Sharp doesn't like it? Then it must be a good idea. The man's an idiot.

Horrible trade - Ravens were going to cut him for salary cap reasons. Could have saved the picks and got him as a FA

The benefit of the trade was not having to guarantee him more $$. Not saying that's worth the picks, just pointing out the logic.

Between Suh's dead $ on the cap and Ngata's salary the Lions are paying over $18 million for that position in 2015.
They gave up 4th and 5th rounders and one of the best DTs in the NFL in exchange for a 7th and the right to rent an aging Ngata who will either be a free agent or have to be extended.
This a great example of why they have one playoff win in 57 years.

Including the dead money Suh's contracts would have cost the Lions $36.6M toward the cap this season, roughly 1/4 of the total cap. No way they were hanging on to him

Easy. Let Ravens cut Ngata and then sign him as free agent and kept my picks

What would his contract look like in that case?
also, sounds like Fairley is gone, which is fine by me. He is going to sign a phat contract, and then start eating chicken wings like it's his full time job, get FAT himself, and stop trying again.

Cheaper than what they're paying now for sure. Nobody is giving a 31 year old $8.5 mil a year unless they panic. He'd be lucky to get a 3 year/$21 million deal. They could outbid anyone with that deal.
Just another lions mistake

I'd say believing in them to draft a good player would be worse

You know I looked at the Lions draft history - you're right they would have just ****ed up the picks
