Also liked Winslow stepping out of bound and no call leading to two for Okafor and a foul on Frank

Re: wisco getting boned by the refs
I have seen Wisconsin flop and get BS calls far too often to have any sympathy. Would not have minded Wisconsin winning, but not going to care too much about some admittedly questionable calls (and no calls).

Stuff like this is why CBB is a shitty sport. Refs run things way too much in that sport.

Hard to argue with this. I still don't understand what the point was of having a long review of a play when you can't get the play right.

Re: wisco getting boned by the refs
I didn't want to start another thread so I'll ask this here. Why is officiating generally considered to be horrible in CBB, but if you bitch about officiating, you are making excuses? How are people able to watch a game, and not see the influence the refs have? Why does 1 team, that looks like they are on the wrong side of a lot of bad calls considered sore losers if they bring up all the bad calls? Officiating is part of the game, and is really one of the few things that most teams can't do anything about, but if both teams aren't playing with the same rules, how is that not an advantage for the team that is getting all the good calls?

It is awful, but I do think teams can do something about it.
For instance, Izzo could surprise the world next year and have his players start flopping.
Coach K did something about it too, his strategy was clear and that was to get to the line more times than the other team. It worked.

I hate basketball when it turns into a free throw contest. There are a lot of problems with college basketball right now.

I agree, I don't watch a lot of it. I follow Michigan State in the bigger games and I followed the tournament.
I agree with your post earlier that pro ball is better.
You have Cal Berkeley trying to emerge as a one and done factory. They are copying the Duke model of watering down academics for athletes and getting da players in for a semester. Should be interesting to see if it works out for them this go around.

MSU outscored its opponents by 4.89 baskets per game. Duke did so by 3.48. Do the math.

Re: wisco getting boned by the refs
I had some issues with the reffing, but generally think it goes both ways, and refs are human and simply can't get it right every time. The one that still has me frustrated and scratching my head, is the one off Winslow's finger out of bounds. I just can't figure out how that wasn't overturned. It was clear as day.

My issue with duke is everybody always says you need to adjust to different styles of play in the NCAAT, but when has Duke ever had to adjust THEIR style to a grinder, physical type game? The refs always decide everyone has to adjust to Duke's style, NEVER the other way around.
Its complete bs. Every year.

After years of seeing this commercial I don't understand why the duke player didn't "come out and do it right."

I'd have to check wisky and keNBAcky's stats. But it appears if you eliminate outside interefernce and persuasion, we score the ball better. :

Lazy argument because drawing fouls means you are operating your offense very efficiently and well. Good offenses get easy points. Duke ran us off the court and only hit two threes.

That's actually a pretty sick shirt. I'd love for MSU to have a shirt like that with the state of Michigan.

The people who usually say others are just using it as an excuse are the kinds that either are a fan of teams that get all the calls (like Duke BB or ND football), or people who are fans of teams that have never been/will never be in a game with huge stakes.
Personally, I think it's a valid complaint, but simultaneously, some programs should be used to that treatment (like MSU, unfortunately) by now and should put themselves in a position to overcome it or not make it such a factor.

Re: wisco getting boned by the refs
MSU fans have been whining about UW favoritism for 10 years. Now the first time we root for them we say they are getting screwed by the refs.
We have no credibility on this topic and are the boy that cried wolf. I only wish Bobby Sak was around because he would be having a gield day.

Yep, the way Wisconsin and Duke were defending is the way you gotta play the game these days. feet planted, hands in the air and no contact.
I'll be interested to see what changes Izzo makes next year.
