Bourbon
So I've been 21 for a little over a month now and haven't bought myself a nice bottle of bourbon yet. Usually my goal is to get drunk as quickly as possible so I have absolutely no knowledge about good booze. What's a good bourbon for me to buy? I'd be willing to spend up to $50.

Spend another $20 and get Bookers. It runs between 122 and 128 proof, each bottle will tell you how long it was aged for, down to the day, and what the proof is, IE 126.5 proof. Its more of a sipping whiskey.Tim Wakefield wrote:So I've been 21 for a little over a month now and haven't bought myself a nice bottle of bourbon yet. My neighbor likes the Gentleman Jack, I think you can get a 1.75 for around $50. Makers is usually a good one. I'm not really a whiskey guy though.

It went on sale here a couple months back. Not sure they had 23, but they had 20.

This. Buffalo Trace is great for $30, that's a start.

Woodford Reserve is only 2 or 3 bucks more than BT and is much better.Ass Dan wrote:Blanch32 wrote:Don't waste your money. 20 dollars bottles will taste just the same to you.

Fair. Never tried woodford to be honest with you, always been told if I was to just get woodford reserve, which prices right out of my range. So BT it is.

I received a bottle of Traverse City Whiskey Co recently, and I very much enjoyed it.

Re: Bourbon
Couple of my buddies brought over a variety Saturday night. Journeyman, buffalo trace, new holland, coppercraft distillery, bullet, traverse city.
I thought journeyman was the best and traverse city a close second. Coppercraft was the worst. I got so drunk I could hear colors.

Woodford is really smooth, but exceptionally unexceptional. Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Bulleit are better IMHO. One of my favorite bourbons is Old Grand Dad 114.

Agree with all of this. And that is the best part about bourbon, everyone will have a different taste. Try them all.
