I don't know the extent of the injuries, but if they are such that he could never play college basketball anywhere he got a good deal.
This exactly. I do't get why we're up in arms over the Belien thing at all. Good job, give the kid a full ride to Michigan. Kid got into a game or two this year, he was not a division one bball player after the accidents. Michigan gets credit for doing this in my book. Good for them.
Do you enjoy Evian bottled water?

okay, the Food Network is a network that you can watch on TV. Even though I applied to work there and got accepted (like everyone else), I chose not to because everything about them represents what I detest in society. Instead, I decided to go to another network.. a network that I love, I cherish.. that has flowering trees in the spring and deep, dark fall colors in the autumn. However, the Food Network is still there.. it's there. And I simply can't not be preoccupied by everything they do, despite the fact that I am fully committed to the other network that I love so much and owe so much to.Giant Moose wrote:What did the Food Network ever do to you, Bob? When you step in shit, you know it. Readings articles about UM sports has the same effect. Glad the kid's getting an education.

I hope now that he's no longer an athlete, he can get a real education at Michigan instead of being forced into General Studies.75alum wrote:When you step in shit, you know it. Readings articles about UM sports has the same effect. Glad the kid's getting an education.

I do find it funny that Hatch says he wants to focus on academics, then in the same article it says his role on the team won't really change as a student manager.

So...it was nice that
Also, we kind of had to continue to pay for your education. We are telling people it was the right thing to do, but the Big Ten would have yelled at us had we just cut you loose. We did the right thing because the rules do not allow otherwise.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/11666316/big-ten-guarantees-four-year-scholarships-student-athletesThe Big Ten announced Wednesday that all of its institutions will grant athletic scholarships for the entire term of an athlete's enrollment and allow some athletes who leave school to return and finish their degrees on scholarship.
Scholarships will be "neither reduced nor cancelled" as long as athletes maintain good standing in school, within the athletic department and in the community. If athletes leave school for "a bona fide reason," they will be allowed to return at a later date to complete their degrees on scholarship.
Several individual Big Ten schools had announced similar scholarship initiatives for athletes, but the league felt a policy statement was needed after its athletic directors, senior woman administrators and faculty representatives met Monday and Tuesday at league headquarters.

Here's my contributions to staff writing...
"He also said that he would be at the school he picks for "six months to four years," so he wants to make sure his decision goes beyond the court.
Very interesting, my analysis is this kid is great at narrowing things down.

More likely it allows them to let Bielfeldt have his 5th year, they'd already cut him loose but now they can be nice there too.

on a MSU board, you'd think it would have at least 100 replies by now.
