Michigan State football committed NCAA violation with 1-on-1 hoops game during recruiting visit

Looks like Khari Willis better hope he makes it as a RB, otherwise DaBangStick may be looking for revenge.


EAST LANSING — The Michigan State football program's only self-reported NCAA violation since Jan. 1 was a case involving insult being added to injury, quite literally.

The violation occurred on Aug. 7, 2014, when Khari Willis -- a 2015 signee who was then a prospect — played a one-on-one basketball game with Spartans' co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Harlon Barnett.

The game was only a few minutes old when Barnett, a former Spartans' All-American and NFL cornerback, suffered a torn Achilles while playing the former Jackson Lumen Christi standout.

Barnett was on crutches for eight weeks as a result of the injury, but the violation did not come to light until much later when Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio disclosed the incident to the media.

Barnett, who is undergoing knee replacement surgery today, received a letter of admonishment on Feb. 20 from athletic director Mark Hollis as a result of the violation, according to the documents obtained.
I love Hollis' admonishments. I'm sure this one was just like Narduzzi's and done with a Wink

He kind of reminds me of that old man that tries to keep up with the kids because he's in denial about being old and wants to prove to them (but really himself) that he isn't old.
