Akers west and hawks hollow are both booked all day. Anything else decent around here, needs to be in the Lansing /mason area.

What about College Fields or Forest Akers East?

Don't hit it in anyone's back yard on the 1st hole. Always a bad way to start.

I actually like Forest Akers East better than West. It's more forgiving and generally much easier to get on.

El Dorado is ok. I have played it twice this year (and that is how many rounds I have averaged the last 10 years).
But I found it really annoying that half the holes are some gimmick par 4 where I can hit 5 iron/wedge or a par 5 that is so long there is no chance to make it in two.
The "first 9" at least has several par 4s around 350-400 yards where I can spray my drive and play my approach shot from an adjacent fairway.

Is Red Cedar still open? Used to love a few beers and a cigar during the twilight rate. Groesbeck too. Maintenance was always a problem though.

Pretty sure Groesbeck is the only city-owned course still in operation.

Edit: Confirmed - Red Cedar and Waverly both are undergoing planning for development.

Me, too. It was one of the few courses I consistently played well.

I'm probably not the best person to ask. I only play golf Up North.

Red Cedar is becoming a favorite place for people to run their dogs off-leash. That will change once development starts and someone's Barkley gets flattened by a bulldozer.
