So Detroit is not really changing

For all of the good we hear about Detroit, is is just a matter of concentrating existing problems? You know, if less people see poverty and despair then it does not really exist.

Yeah, my wife and I are at the point where , When we read all the negative stuff, plus all the positive stuff, we kind of ignore it. We’ve been living just outside of the city for 30 years and going down into the city at least once or twice a month for various things. I went down there and actually spent some time down there this past winter before Christmas.  I go down occasionally but usually for an event, a concert or something, I'm in and then out.  But when I went down there I was surprised at just how much of downtown is actually usable now.  You can walk around, a lot, and it's all nice and safe feeling.  It wasn't at all like that 25 years ago where there was like 2 short stretches of street you could do that in with little spots peppered around for things like concerts.  Now it's a bit of a cool experience, a destination, and people were everywhere. You can walk around blocks in every direction. Detroit has done good of late.

True, but then Putin has a path into attacking Europe and we have WW3... Soooo one hand, vibrant neighborhoods around Detroit the other hand, millions dead and planet upheaval let alone chance of global annihilation via nuclear war...
