That head might be ok but it kills me.

Zach averaged 10.8 points in 19.8 minutes. Ward is averaging 11.9 points in 16.6 minutes.
Of course Izzo didn't think Zach was good enough to start over Big Al and Ward isn't good enough to start over Goins.

Both Goins and Ward are foul prone. Maybe he'd rather have Ward on the floor in crunch time.

Re: 2016/17 Hoops Thread
Ward is only capable of playing a few minutes at a time. But if he were to start then it would seem he would automatically have a better chance of getting a few more total minutes for the game. I would hope he can playing over 20 minutes a game the rest of the season.

Pull Izzo aside after the game tonight and let him know your thoughts. I'm pretty sure he's been waiting to hear what you think before changing things up.

I would actually like to. It seems so simple - your chances of winning basketball games increase by playing your best players the maximum amount of minutes. I would explain why in addition to starting Ward both halves, he should almost never voluntarily bench a player because of foul trouble.

Laziness. And it is not like I run into him often or have a forum where he would take me seriously. Coaches tend to be very stubborn.
It was determined years ago that you should never kick a field goal from the two yard line but almost every coach still does it.

Re: 2016/17 Hoops Thread
There is a high school coach that never punts and always does onside kicks.
It says here his next strategy he developed two seasons ago was to run the downfield option, like a constant hook and ladder lateral strategy after completed passes. I am curious if it worked.

If you cant have a decent jumper, as a guard, by the time you are a soph it will never come.
Very very very rarely will kids, especially in hoops, develop a huge part of the game in between soph-junior or junior-senior. You kind of are who you are.
Its like asking of Schilling will have post moves this year. We can only hope.
Tum was getting there over the off season last year and early in 2015/16. Injuries set him back big time.
But since you say it's impossible for him to develop a jumper, Izzo should probably just cut him.
Too bad Bellein isn't his coach.
Are you ever right on anything Duffy?

Northeastern in a tight one with Oakland at the O-rena. Northeastern has been in control most of the game.

Wow, Northeastern in the process of choking a bit. OU with a chance to tie at the line with 10 seconds left. NE went to the line up 3 and missed the front end. NE ball now with 9.6 left. Game is on Channel 20 in Detroit if anyone cares.

NE wins on a buzzer beater. Hell of a shot. Fadeaway with contact from 18 feet or so.

Gives you 9 Big Ten wins......not much room to stumble....they need to win all of those and pull an upset or 2. Or win the BTT.

It might actually help us to play bottom feeders on Wednesday and Thursday in the big ten tournament. Gets us closer to 19 and I think that number gets us at least a play in.

I added tOSU at home, that one should be winnable.

MSU would get in on reputation if they get 19-20 wins. Plus pull a couple upsets with bridges back and committee will have no issues putting us in.

Re: 2016/17 Hoops Thread
I watched tonight, Ward was amazing. I think this team makes it in to the tournament. Izzo will get us there.
As usual the refs were awful. Every time the game felt like it was going to get a good flow along came an asshole referee with a call. Who is running this shit? Can't they tell that the stadiums are quiet? People want to see some contact, and they want better flow to the game.
