I had to travel to Baltimore at the tail end of those riots. I need to travel to Dallas in August. Oh and the other major city I travel to for work is Chicago. South side. Weeeeee!!!!!

3 Dallas officers dead, 1 of them a dart officer
2 in surgery
3 in critical condition

Fox News was airing this as it happened. They have video of what looked like two dead officers for a few seconds.

This shit is fucked up.

There is that common denominator here that in the last three nights all of them in some way revolve around gun ownership.

But all of this is such a complex issue. Fuck man I dunno. Guns ain't going away. We're not going to start hiring qualified cops that won't murder on a seconds notice because they're scared and we're not going to stop having psychos.

Actually, as I typed that sentence it seemed to come down money more than guns. We aren't willing to pay for appropriate cops or mental health facilities to make sure things like this don't happen. I'm at a point where it's one or the other. More dimes or guns. Which is more important to you? You cannot have both unless you're willing to accept that this type of thing is just life now.

Alternatively, we could pull back our absolutely insane military budget and put that money towards things that we actually need. We wouldn't have to give up our precious guns in that case either. That works. Stop being scared of men that live 10,000 miles away and trust that having a military budget that is 6 times the rest of the world combined instead of 7 times will be sufficient. (I made up those numbers but you get the point.) Then we could pay for things that would prevent people from actually dying. Instead of the hypothetical boogie man that were all so scared of.

I don't think it's as simple as blaming one boogie man. It's systemic.

Five officer dead shot by four snipers at what was supposed to be a non-violent rally protesting the deaths in Baton Rouge and Minneapolis where law enforcement used deadly force very quickly and it was caught on video.

It's a tragedy and a reminder that regardless of where you are working in law enforcement across the country what officers do 1000 miles away in another city and state can make your job more dangerous.

So we good? If you take away guns, only criminals will have guns, right? *Phew* Good thing we have guns.
