Shooting random officers in Dallas is probably not the best way to express outrage at wrongdoings in Minnesota and Louisiana.

Travis is smart all of a sudden. This is systematic. 1). we have a gun lobby that pushes for the militarization of our police departments. 2). we have communities embracing cops armed like they're stationed in Ramadi and cops embracing the role of enforcers instead of peace keepers. 3). we have fanatical 2nd amendment philosophies, and 4). We have a significant part of the populace that feels as though they are besieged by an occupying force.

I hate violence, but didn't we all see this coming?

Roc said it way better than I could but this is dead balls accurate.

What did we think would happen?

The problem with these tragedies now is they won't bring us together, they'll divide us more. We will call for the beefing up of police forces and we will see more tragedies like the Minnesota car shooting because these cops will have the mentality they are under seige (maybe we all would) One false move and they will protect themselves.

Let's throw in a demigod for president add alcohol and see what happens.

True, I was thinking the same thing - I'm surprised that no one's done something like this in the past.

There were the two officers in NYC that were revenge killings back in late '14, but I agree, I've thought for awhile we were going to see this kind of slaughter. I worry now about copycats.

Also, how long have PDs had bombs? I had no idea that was in their already way-too-militarized arsenal.

I'm sure Obama will give a speech any minute saying he's in solidarity with all the officers who risk their lives daily to keep the peace. I'm sure of it.

Right on Wags. Police ARE under siege and you are right, this mass mirder of cops will only lease to more cops wrongly killing people because it will make them more on edge.

Want to solve this, fix black youth unemployment that is at 50%. When people have jobs and the economy is good they do less desperate and crazy things.

We desperately need a jobs president.

Saw a former FBI official on CNN who related a now retired upper level colleague had called him yesterday and told he was afraid the two most recent killings earlier in the week were going to act as a reason for someone to go after law enforcement somewhere.

I had said something simlar to my wife right after the shooting in Minneapolis.  I suspect many here felt the same way but no way in hell I would ever post that kind of prediction.

We saw an off duty Texas police officer shot and killed while he was pumping gas in the last year.  I don't think anyone was expecting someone to use what was a peaceful protest with police acting as essentially escorts as a place to kill as many police as possible.

We have a lot of angry people and a lot of people with guns.  That's not a good combination.

Probably why it worked so well...no when there are protests like these, SWAT will probably setup sharp shooters on rooftops, etc.

Have heard several members of law enforcement leadership say what we are seeing is an outgrowth of poor police staffing because of the years of "fiscal responsibility" .

The belt tightening that has cut police budgets not only keep salaries low so the pool of good people is reduced, it keeps staffing at bare bees levels and guts training budgets.

Yep, gotta pay for bloated pensions for public workers who never had to save a dime for their own retirement so they can make as much in retirement as the average 40 year old worker.

Time to massively cut pension benefits and up the age of social security benefit payouts.

Let's start by getting rid of the 1033 program that essentially gives municipalities obsolete or decommissioned military gear. Local police don't need that shit, except for in very rare cases, like SWAT, which should be a tint fraction of a police force. The amount of resources spent maintaining and training on that shit must be enormous.

I like the British method of a lower tier of police that are called "community support officers". They generally live in the communities where they work and know the residency, like beat cops from back in the day. People need to feel as though police are part of the community, not an occupying force.

Just an idea.

You are correct. The police are as complicit as anyone (and probably more so) in creating this "us versus them" mentality. This is the fruit that kind of thinking bears. Perhaps if they stopped thinking themselves to be soldiers with then enemy being citizens then some of this stuff would calm down. Or we could just go straight police state with it, which is the current track were on.

I love this new meme that somehow the NRA should have spoken out in support of the convicted felon in Louisiana that was illegally carrying a weapon. Pure Bullshit.

And somehow it's the NRA's fault that a Muslim terrorist kills nearly 50 people in a gay club in Orlando. Now it's the NRA's fault that someone kills 5 cops in Dallas.

And if it's not the NRA's fault it's the 2nd amendment's fault. Strange how all the blame is misdirected from the actual fucking criminals to a political organization the liberals disagree with and the Amendment they work to protect.

Isnt it funny though the double standards the left employ everyday?

Murder with a gun = blame the NRA and 2nd amendment, not the actual criminal.

Rape = blame entirely the criminal

Funny how the left switches arguments depending on what they are huffing and puffing about. Dallas... - Page 2 502811600

We also blame the dick or fingers of the criminal. It's not really switching arguments at all.

You'd understand that if you weren't a fucking idiot. But alas.

Here's the thing; when elementary school kids are gunned down at Sandy Hook my gun loving friends say "we need guns to fight against a potentially oppressive and tyrannical government."

Gotcha. Cool.

So some guys go out yesterday and use their guns to fight against a government they perceive as oppressive and tyrannical.

So, second amendment right exercised?

No, the bottom line is there are strong, independent types out there that don't look towards government employees so they can live their daily lives.

Most people aren't willing to sacrifice rights granted to us in the Bill of Rights because of a few tragedies.

And I know your post is a silly troll, but I dont think the 2nd amendment gives you the right to murder. I could be wrong though. Dallas... - Page 2 55953254
