In retrospect, it was still the smart play.
I'd also say the head coach needs to know those rules. No excuse not to.

Which team was it that bitched about us doing it last year or the year before?

It was Nebraska a couple years ago when Pelini was still there.

Mike Gundy issues statement on OK State-Central Michigan botched ending
http://footballscoop.com/news/mike-gundy-issues-statement-ok-state-central-michigan-botched-ending/
As I said above, the officials got it wrong but OSU invited this problem by killing the game with an intentional grounding penalty rather than choosing another option.

A few questions:
Does Oklahoma State really think this will stop the media from asking about the ending this week?
How is it possible no one in a dozen years realized Oklahoma State’s kill play was a penalty?
When and why did Oklahoma State change its kill play from just a few years ago? Faced almost the exact situation at Texas A&M in 2011 — up three, five seconds left, with the ball at midfield — Gundy called an entirely different play.

OkState student newspaper asks CMU to give up the win.

How about both teams get an L but receive participation ribbons to validate their efforts. This is an embarrassing request.
The officials screwed up. Big time. But to get the win CMU had to execute a statistically improbable play.

I must say that, from a football standpoint, I was real happy with the way the weekend transpired.

I think CMU should give up the TD, right after OKSt gives up the TD they scored with the picked up flag.

O.K. State would be damn busy looking at film each week and deciding if they won or lost. If a ref makes a bad pass interference call, they need to take that stuff and give it back. It's going to be real hard deciding who won or who lost.

Bingo. No one wants to open the Pandora's box of reviewing penalties after the fact.

Good point. Honestly, participation ribbons are the way to go. This avoids any issues with officiating. No more winners or losers. Everybody can go home feeling good.
