Name of TAPP album from 1977 was I Robot....did Hollywood/Will Smith pay royalties on that name????? Damn who knew there was an I anything before Apple????
no they probably paid isaac asimov's estate for I, Robot. he wrote the short story back in the 40s i think, and developed the ideas over the next five decades. TAPP's album is based on it as an homage. the will smith thing was just an abomination by hollywood.
yeah, the 70s had some crappy pop, but it had good music too, even disco.

Just got done watching School of Rock with the kids. First, good flick. Second, how fucking awesome is AC/DC?
This is probably early 80s, but it's one of my favs...

Nordy,
AC/DC did 90% of their best work in the 70s. Start with these 2 songs.

Big AC/DC fan, both the Bon Scott & Brian Johnson stuff. It used to burn up Sony cassette player in HS.

Something we agree on. Bon era AC/DC is by far the best. Back in Black was peak Brian and it's not even close.
In our 1st year at MSU my best friend and I literally wore 3 cassettes out of If you Want Blood.

I know it's 1968.....but watching this it's no wonder my Dad thought all rockers were hippies on drugs. Watching this I'd have to agree with him......

So "hit song" in your title is a loose term.

Fly by Night was a hit.
At least if you listened to Detroit radio it was.

Dont know or care if this has already been posted. Yeah, HC talks for a few seconds before beginning his song, but his comments are pretty cool (and, in hindsight, sad), and that's why I like this version.

Harry was so great, I saw him Saginaw at the Heritage Theater just a few months before his death. When the show was over he stepped over the front of the stage and spent over an hour just talking to members of the audience in the lobby.

I'm jealous as hell. I was just a little too young to really appreciate what an artist he was. When he died, I really only knew him as the guy who sang Cat's, Taxi, and WOLD, none of which interested an ~11-year-old at the time they came out, nor the H.S. me who was big into hair metal, Marshal Tucker Band, and Willie Nelson at the time he died.

I bought a book of his poetry and had him autograph it for me, my daughter has it now. After I posted that I went and looked up the date of the show, it was April 24th, 81 and his accident was July 16th, 81. I was devastated the day he died, though I'm at heart a hard rock/metal head I have a few storytellers that I really like. In addition to the songs you mentioned above I'd add Mr. Tanner and I want to learn a love song.

Damn, Goose, that's really cool. Has she learned to appreciate Chapin's work?

My kids all listen to a bit of him, I don't know how much. They all got exposed to it when they were young.....and I used "Cat's in the Cradle" as a guilt song when they were teens. They still can get irritated if I turn that on at specific times. ;-))

No cheating or wiki allowed.....can anyone name the singer/guitarist in this band? He went on to HUGE success in the early 80s as a solo artist. One of my best friends had this album in high school we loved this song:
