Re: Westworld - HBO
I forgot to update you. Finished the season the other day... there was a scene where Bernard showed her that she was actually just following what her programming told her to do. So, she was doing what either Ford or Arnold wanted her to do. I’d assume Ford since it’s be hard to predict that there would be a couple of dipshit body janitors that she could play. Or maybe it was Arnold and a general “hey. Go escape” order is enough. But she definitely didn’t accidentally figure everything out.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:Travis of the Cosmos wrote:
Well I’m rewatching right now pylon so spoiler alert.
Haha nah I’m kidding I sorta generally remember. But my understanding was that it was all at Fords control who prolly could have covered up for the fact that it wasn’t really an accident. But that’s just loose memory.
Maybe, I don't remember thinking that was the case though. I gotta rewatch it myself. I've forgotten a lot of what happened since it's been what a year and a half since the 1st season?

We can't define consciousness because consciousness does not exist. Humans fancy that there's something special about the way we perceive the world, and yet we live in loops as tight and as closed as the hosts do, seldom questioning our choices, content, for the most part, to be told what to do next.

That’s what I called the hot ass beer cart chick, “the 18th hole.” She thought it was cute as hell.
Okay fine it was actually the 65 year old chain smoking bartender.
Okay fine it was actually the literal hole. Whatever you don’t get to judge me.

The DNA collection storyline could be interesting. That's probably why they wanted as many people to bust a nut with the prostitutes as possible.

A sort of friend and her band had an original song air during Westworld tonight. Don’t watch the show, so no idea how much of it aired. Same woman fronts another band and that group has a song airing during Lucifer on Fox tomorrow night. A good week for her, I guess.

Denmark + Winter. Looks like I misread her post. Their song is right before the show and is also in the trailer for HBO’s original programming. On Lucifer tonight, her band of Verona has one of their songs played. She’s also in a couple of other bands, Essx Station and Treees. (I guess she borrowed an e from Essx Station and loaned it to Treees.)

Re: Westworld - HBO
I are so confuzed.
So Bernard is really Arnold but not really -- turns into Teddy? And he's a host but the white drone doesn't ID him? Or the drones are there to keep humans out? Which means Charlotte is also a host? (!)
All the time jumping is a bit hard to follow ....
I feel more "what the hell did I just watch" w/Westwood so far this season than I did after most Twin Peaks season 3 episodes (except 8 with the atomic bomb blast and Gotta Light guy -- maybe the most WTF DID I JUST WATCH tv show I've ever seen).

So there are a bunch of timelines going on. Not sure how Berard passed the ID check. Maybe Ford gave him full access before he died. Maybe he somehow has some Arnold DNA in him. They are collecting DNA from everyone who visits the park.
Not sure where you're getting that Teddy is Bernard?
The white drones are there to put down any hosts that get in that room. Somehow Bernard is bypassing that safety checkpoint.

I just figured that since Bernard had been working as a "human" all these years, with only Ford knowing that he wasn't, that he was programmed in as being allowed.

Yes. This. I’m pretty sure there’s a quick cut of Bernard’s hands on the train, except they aren’t his... they look too white. It must be Teddy’s hands... See for yourself: https://imgur.com/a/8vIlzzG

Re: Westworld - HBO
I feel this was somewhat more straightforward in following timelines? What did you get out of it?
- Mr Devos was obvi in the past and on a loop, so easy to follow ... brings in the eternal life concept for rich assholes. So is Ford's "soul" is what was in Peter Abernathy? If so, maybe a future showdown between Ford v.2 (whichever host is in a future episode infected w/his "soul") and Arnold v.2 (Bernard?)?
- So I guess all those white drones self-destructed? Not sure about the point of them ....
- Bernard isn't his original programmed self (thus adding to being corrupted?) and is either Arnold or Teddy?
- Confederados are completely annihilated
- Don't know what happened w/Delores after she won the seige....
- Some more rando humans are loose (set free by Indians)
- Who is that lady w/Bernard who saw the fishbowl? Board of directors lady? But I thought that role was for Charlotte? Don't remember her ...
- Girl's advice to MiB (something about don't look forward) -- probably leads to a showdown with Delores which will test her "memory" of loving him in the past ....
There do need to be more boobs ... not sure why they went from gratuitous soft core to 0%.

Fucking hate that. It's the old bait and switch and they justify it to themselves by saying they're "grown" as a show and don't need nudity anymore.
I think the worse one was when Californication gave up on boobs in season 6.

I think Ford is in the "cloud" if you will. I think he can hop from host to host at will. He likes to take over kids to taunt William on his journey.
The drones were there for safety I guess. Don't really see the point of them in the plot either other than to be something different to look at.
I don't trust Bernard at all. Ford is still doing shit behind the scenes. I'm sure he can take control of him whenever he wants.
Confederados got knocked the fuck out.
I'm pretty sure Delores is trying to get to that lab Bernard and the programmer chick is at.
Yeah, the Indians seem to be kind of helping any humans left.
She was the programmer that worked with Bernard in season one. She got kidnapped by Bernard somewhere along the way. That's why she was so scared of him when he found her chained up.
I think there is a copy of MIB's younger self he's going to have to confront. That's my guess.

If Ford is in the cloud, how does he "infect" hosts?
Bernard seems ok so far ... but that girl w/the super long shotgun better keep him in front of her. What is that red ball he took?
Thx for the programmer 411.
Lots of ways MiB can go ... it would be nice if they started giving answers instead of more black holes. Twin Peaks S03 was so frustrating that way ... was so nice when they kinda answered something. I end up watching shows like this not knowing what the hell is going on but then by the end I kinda got it even if I missed 60% of the density that super nerds feast on.
I much prefer a show like Deadwood or The Americans ... intense and suspenseful but not WTF so often.

To track down his location, Bernard has a solution: “I’ll need to hardline into the host mesh network,” he tells her, explaining that the hosts are subconsciously linked to other hosts in close proximity; this way, they can bounce information between one another and avoid stumbling into narratives not their own, which keeps the guest experience running smoothly.
Think about every time you’ve tried to access Wi-Fi in your house, or a friend’s house, or some Wi-Fi supported public space, and found yourself in a dead zone. Frustrating, right? That's where mesh networking comes in handy -- a fancypants term for an otherwise simple fix to an irritating problem. In a nutshell, a mesh network is a series of routers, aka nodes or connection points, peppered throughout a space where each of those routers "talks" to the others, ultimately expanding the range of Wi-Fi coverage within that space. Suddenly, all those pesky dead zones are no longer dead. Mesh networks, of course, are really only worth setting up in a large space, like a museum, or an office, or -- drumroll -- an Old West theme park built on an island.
What this could mean for Westworld is yet to be revealed: Bernard, after extracting and shooting up a vial of cortical fluid from an offline host, successfully locates Peter, which means he and Charlotte will soon be hot on his trail. But now that we know the hosts in Westworld can communicate on a subliminal level -- further tying in the bicameral mind theory so important to Season 1 -- it can only spell further trouble in an already tight situation.
