Re: Westworld - HBO
While Deadwood and The Americans are two of my favorite shows ever, I also love shows with a lot of WTF. Where they give you bits and pieces of a puzzle, and/or where ever mystery answered only leads to bigger questions. That's part of the fun for me, but it's also a lot about the characters. But I guess that's why another of my two favorite shows ever are Lost and the Leftovers. Like you, I don't get a lot of what the super-fans of the shows get, but I still enjoy the ride.loogoldham wrote:If Ford is in the cloud, how does he "infect" hosts?
Bernard seems ok so far ... but that girl w/the super long shotgun better keep him in front of her. What is that red ball he took?
Thx for the programmer 411.
Lots of ways MiB can go ... it would be nice if they started giving answers instead of more black holes. Twin Peaks S03 was so frustrating that way ... was so nice when they kinda answered something. I end up watching shows like this not knowing what the hell is going on but then by the end I kinda got it even if I missed 60% of the density that super nerds feast on.
I much prefer a show like Deadwood or The Americans ... intense and suspenseful but not WTF so often.

Leftovers was just amazing even if they didn't stick the landing. One of the best shows of all timeWatch Out Pylon! wrote:MiamiSpartan wrote:

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with how the last episode played out. So many other ways they could have ended it. Oh well.

If you like to have to interpret what you're watching, not unlike a David Lynch show or movie, this is the series for you.

It gets fucking weird. I don't think in a good way either. Up to you I guess. You can always quit if you don't like it.

Blowing up the park concept and going full on robot revolt so early was a mistake. They should have still had a story within the confines of the park for at least one more season, maybe 2, before going to the inevitable robot revolt end game.

I agree with this. I would have liked some more in park shit.

Since there are other parks, maybe they can go back to that in a way but in a different setting? Of course, I still haven’t finished season 2 so maybe that’s impossible now.

Seems like as I recall the leaving the park thing may or may not be real... so they may be in the park or just a hard drive or in a memory of a character in the hard drive in the park which may be the past or the present of any of those incarnations of "real".
Soooo Yeah, shit got confusing.

Looks like things are completely different for season three. I had no idea this was a Westworld trailer until the very end. I'm about ready to give up on this show if it's anything like season 2. We'll see.
Oh, I just noticed that this is coming out in 2020. I might not even have HBO by then.

ug... I don't even know If I can with this one... Unless they nail down the "here and now" early, what's the point?
The drama of a consciousness on a backup server doesn't seem compelling to me... And it opens too many doors... almost like parallel universe theories, shit just gets confusing... and what's the point? A billion "realities" in where we turn into elephants or live like kings... Has no end game. And just damn confusing.

Season 3. It took about 3.5 episodes for it to take off but it’s good. Not as good as the second half of 1 and all of 2 but good.

And Marshawn Lynch is not a GOOD actor, but he’s not terrible either. They were careful not to make him work outside his comfort zone. Let’s just say he’s like 30 times better than Dan Marino at acting.
