Michigan State still looking for late additions to 2019 recruiting class

The group lacks a quarterback and the Spartans recently offered Payton Thorne, a three-star prospect and Western Michigan commit from Naperville Central High School in Illinois. Michigan State has also been looking for a tight end and is a little light on defensive linemen with just two commits in three-star ends Michael Fletcher from Flint Carman-Ainsworth and Adam Berghorst from Zeeland East.

“I think, positionally, defensive line is up there,” Trieu said of Michigan State’s needs, “so Keith Randolph’s going to be your top target there and they’re still recruiting Cavon Butler.”

Lots of MAC QB's went to, or are currently in the NFL. At one point, the MAC had more starting QB's in the NFL than any other conference in America.

Stars brighten Michigan State's familiar blue-collar recruiting class

What makes this group a bit different from at least the last couple of seasons is there happens to be a little more star power at the top.

Strength of the class
The offensive line. In addition to Dobbs, the Spartans are bringing in Nick Samac and J.D. Duplain, two Ohioans who Ohio State tried to flip during their senior seasons, along with athletic 6-foot-6 in-state prospect Spencer Brown and 6-foot-6, 315-pound Damon Kaylor from Indiana. Other than Dobbs, the other four are expected to enroll next semester at Michigan State and go through spring ball.
