Stupid idea.

Just switch MLB to rec league softball rules. Start with a 1-1 count and any foul ball on strike 2 is an automatic out.

Wow that is really dumb. Extra innings are not broken. Most games end relatively quickly. The ones that don't are quirky and kinda fun.

Has anyone mentioned yet how beyond dumb this is?

So they want to speed up games, and they figure hey, let's start with shaving extra innings because so many games reach that point.

The last few years they have been experimenting with a computer calling the balls and strikes. The crowd doesn't know as he calls are relayed to the ump behind the plate to make whatever call it tells him. Story was on Showtime last year.

I'd like a baseball geek stat guy to go back in the 185 extra innings games there were last year and see how many first inning base hits there were. Then if the visiting team got one, did the home team get one? How about the 11th inning?

I know it's the chaos theory, because some teams would pitch to some hitters and then if there is a guy on second some would walk some hitters they'd normally pitch to if there wasn't a runner on second.

Anyway, its' a fucked up idea..
