I thought this was an interesting story.  Why would you "spy" on another country from the water nowadays?  I would think satellites would provide better info and be more covert.  Russia also knows we would be able to pick the submarine up on radar immediately.  Shit, we can probably track the thing anywhere it goes in the ocean.  Putin powerplay I guess is all that makes sense.
